Amanda B (Poem)
Tiny, wee
Amanda B
Lies on my knee
And smiles at me.
Born in a hurry
She caused such a flurry,
Made the nurses scurry,
But for her no worry.
Home in ten days
Instead of fourteen.
See big sister gaze,
See proud father lean.
Her little pink lips
Form a perfect O,
Eager for sips,
Knows where to go.
I'd knitted pink shawl,
Pink dress and the lot,
Although in those days
Her sex we knew not.
Our 'coconut ice'
Had everything nice.
We prayed that she'd grow
Heavenly Father to know.
Not easy to raise
Many foods she would scorn,
We tried many ways,
Our hearts often torn.
But at last she was grown
With a mind of her own,
Eager to go,
The world to know.
With our blessing see
Her departed, fancy free.
Sweet young lady she,
Amanda B.
