Is It A Blue Moon Tonight?
Pinch Me I Must Be Dreaming!!
OK, so for everyone who has read any of my last hubs about my kids you would realize that my life is pretty crazy. (Or I should say, My children try to make me crazy.) But today for some odd reason I had a "normal" day. I am still in complete shock, so by writing this hub I am hoping to not wake up before I am done, to realize it was only a dream. Here is a true story about my wonderful day...
We woke up this morning and started getting ready for a trip to my Fiance's family reunion. I was up first because I had to make Rice Crispy Treats to take to the party. My fiance and 2 year old were up shortly after. Then my fiance had to run to pick up our 9 year old son from his mother's house because this is her weekend to have him. Once they were home I went upstairs to get ready. By that time my father was dropping off my other two, my daughter age 9 and my son age 6. I was washed, dressed, and ready for chaos....but wait a minute everyone is quiet and eager, yet nervous to hit the road. I packed our bag with extra clothes for each child, some snacks for the trip, hooked up the portable DVD player in the van, and loaded the cooler with our drinks. We were in the van and mind you driving right on time!!!! No tantrums, no fighting and no crying. The hour drive to the party was also very smooth. My 2 year old was a little upset from the movie, "Milo and Otis", how was I suppose to know it would make him sad:( We got to the party on time and happy!!!
When we got there we had our introductions to everyone and realized there was alot of kids for our kids to play with and things to do. My kids warmed up rather quickly and off they went. It was nice because every age group had a few kids within it. Our 9 year olds were playing kick ball and running around, our 2 year old was playing with other 2 and 3 year olds, and my 6 year old was off by himself, but yet playing right by everyone, kind of just keeping to himself. We all had a bunch to eat and soon after eating the kids were off running again.
After awhile I discovered my daughter (9) and son (6) playing together on a swing set in the yard away from everyone. They were swing and laughing and just having a great time. I did not interrupt this time for them together because it is a rare thing to see. I just stood there, just out of sight to them in awe at the wonder I was blessed catch. I know it may be a long time before I might witness this again. The hours passed and I still had happy and pleasant kids. We had one little outburst but it was quickly resolved. I really kept thinking I might just be dreaming.
The end of the night came quickly. We loaded our things in the van, made our bathroom trips, and made our rounds of good-byes. We loaded four sleepy in the van and off to home we drove. I put on a different movie "Garfield", because I knew this one definitely had no sad parts. The hour drive home went as smooth as the ride up. When we pulled out front the kids were all ready for bed. We got them in, gave them a snack, put them in pajamas, and off to bed they went.
I have to say, today was a great day!!! I got to have so much fun with my children without anyone being upset. I hope to have more and more days like today!! It was nice to see my son and daughter playing together, because it rarely happens anymore. Maybe it was just the change in environment or the bigger space they had to run. Whatever it was I am absolutely grateful to have had this day with my family and my newly met family!!!
The kind of day like today happens once in a blue moon. Is it a blue moon tonight? How long until the next blue moon comes around? I would like to pencil it in on my calender!!!!
