BOB Double Jogging Stroller Review - Best Double All-Terrain Stroller

Updated on January 31, 2017

What To Look For When Buying A Jogging Stroller

Stellar Safety Features

If you're looking for a stroller for your beloved child then Bob Double Jogging Stroller offers the best safety features you may like. You should demand a five-point harness and one-touch linked brakes to buy a jogging stroller. If you will be jogging with the stroller a wrist strap is a good feature and a hand-operated brake can provide extra security. If you will be using the stroller on bumpy ground, you want to look into locking wheels.

Sturdy Construction

All-terrain strollers must be designed to resist dangerous tipping and they need wheels that won’t loosen or wobble after regular use.

Features for Ease-of-Use

Bulky all-terrain strollers should nevertheless be easy to fold. Because they often get dirty being used off-road, the fabric should be water-resistant and easy to clean. If you need a double stroller, ensure that it will fit through a standard doorway.

A Full Canopy

A generous canopy is a needed feature because an all-terrain stroller is designed for fun in the sun. You need to protect baby’s skin from too much sun exposure.

Good Weight Ratings

The ideal stroller will fully recline to carry a newborn, or alternatively, should accommodate a bassinet or car seat. You should also think about baby as he grows, and the stroller needs wide seats and a tall back so he’s not uncomfortable.

Ask Something Yourself Before You Go

How Much Weight Are You Able to Comfortably Lift?

If you are purchasing a double jogging stroller, be ready because they are heavy. Ensure that you will be able to safely lift the stroller into your trunk by yourself.

Will You Be Walking or Jogging?

If you are a jogger, invest in an all-terrain stroller that can also be used for jogging. Check the manufacturer’s website or look into the owner’s manual to check.

Will A Young Infant Be Using The Stroller?

While some all-terrain strollers feature fully reclining seats, they often don’t have this feature. Some strollers offer the capability to attach a bassinet or car seat so check out the stroller’s features.

How Big Is Your Car’s Trunk?

All-terrain strollers are often fairly bulky so measure your trunk before you buy the stroller to ensure that it will fit when folded.

Buying Tactics and Strategies

Before you buy a jogging stroller, try out the model you are considering. Find out if the stroller is easy and comfortable to push, and how well it maneuvers. Put your child or children in it to see how comfortable it is for them. If you are shopping for a double stroller, find out if there is enough distance between the seats. Ensure the stroller feels stable while carrying an older child with a baby.

Don’t rule out an older model. Once they have designed a popular stroller that sells well, manufacturers will not change much about that stroller from one year to the next. One small part might be changed, or it might feature a different color fabric. Therefore, you might be able to find an older stroller more cheaply, but still enjoy the features you love.

However, use caution if considering to buy a stroller used. Of course you can buy a used stroller for a fraction of the cost of a new one, but all-terrain strollers are sometimes quick to wear out. Also, strollers are often the subject of manufacturer safety recalls. Make sure you find out the history of the stroller or your bargain may turn out to be a bad idea.

Safety for Bob Revolution Double Stroller

The Bob Double Jogging Stroller has an aluminum frame, a foot-operated parking brake, and a five-point harness. A concern is that an older toddler can unfasten the one-touch harness buckle. The double stroller also features a seat retention strap that, in the case of an accident, will hold the seat to the frame. The stroller boasts a wrist strap for additional safety, but there is a potential problem there: because the strap is attached to the stroller’s handle, if the parent falls while using the strap it could tip the stroller.

All BOB strollers have been the subject of two recalls in recent months, and the Bob Double Jogging Stroller is no exception. 337,000 strollers were recalled in previous year because of a strangulation hazard involving the drawstring on the back of the canopy. This recall was not due to any reported deaths or injuries; BOB simply changed the design as a precaution. Then later 411,700 were recalled because babies mouthing the stroller canopy’s embroidered logo patch was considered a choking hazard. The only reported incident with this patch was gagging, not choking or injury. It was only a problem for children in the attached infant car seat. The BOB website contains more information on these recalls as well as product updates and details of what was done to fix these issues.

Ease of use

Smooth ride, and fits through doorways. The Bob Double Jogging Stroller boasts a smooth ride no matter the terrain, thanks to the adjustable shocks that customers love. It is also so easy to push that some users report being able to push it on flat ground with only one finger. Unlike some other double strollers, Bob Revolution SE Duallie fits through standard doorways – it’s only just over 30 inches wide. The Revolution SE is easily folded and unfolded, but some reviewers wish it had an automatic lock. It won’t stand when folded. Users report that the harness and seat recline are easily adjusted, and wiping the fabric clean is simply accomplished. The canopies and seat reclines can be adjusted independently. The bob duallie stroller is 34 pounds, which might seem heavy, but this weight is fairly common in all-terrain double strollers.

How Do You Consider Bob Revolution Double Stroller

Lifestyle features of Bob Revolution Double Stroller

Good for light jogging. The Bob Revolution Double Stroller is first and foremost an all-terrain stroller but it also works well for parents who like to occasionally jog, too. The Bob Revolution Duallie’s front swivel wheel can be secured for increased ride stability, like all all-terrain strollers. Parents can easily adjust tracking using the front-wheel knob. Avid runners say a fixed-wheel jogging stroller is better, however. Reviewers also complain that SE Duallie is so bulky when folded that it won’t fit in some car trunks.

Users are happy with the canopies that offer peek-a-boo windows but also adequate coverage for baby. Many owners report that the storage basket, while big enough, is hard to get to. The handle’s lack of height adjustment is an issue for some. Many reviewers felt that accessories should be included, especially popular ones like trays for parent or child.

Because the Bob Double Jogging Stroller doesn’t fully recline, BOB recommends the stroller for use with children older than 8 weeks unless the car seat adapter is used. The stroller can only fit one car seat at a time and for now the adapter only works with Graco car seats – other brands will be added with time. For off-road use and for jogging, BOB recommends waiting until riders are 8 months old – at this age head control is fully developed. The double bob stroller is advertised to fit children of up to 100 pounds but you may find that the canopies won’t allow larger children enough head room. Some optional accessories: parent console, rain shield and sun shield.

Customer service for SE Duallie

Solid warranty and reputation. The Bob Revolution Double Stroller carries a one year warranty on components and fabrics, and a limited five-year warranty on the frame. BOB has an excellent customer service reputation and reviewers not few complaints.

Bottom Line

Bob Double Jogging Stroller, like other in the BOB product line, earns raves from customers for smooth ride, durability and its off-road capabilities. Parents who enjoy the outdoors or jogging with their kids should look at the BOB Revolution Double Stroller. However, be aware that even accessories as simple as a cup holder are sold separately – no extra features come with the stroller.

We have three kids (6 months), 2 and 3. What sholud we do for a stroller? We currently have a Graco Double stroller that is not very convenient. Triple jogging strollers cost a fortune and don't seem worth the money for the relatively short time that we would use it. We were thinking maybe a double jogger, with a stand on riding attachment. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
