Best Playpen for Babies and Toddlers

Updated on June 11, 2013

Playpens or Baby Prisons?

As a father of 4 children myself I understand the rigours of daily life, washing, ironing, vacuuming, cleaning, shopping, cooking and all of the other 101 chores that need to be done around the house,

I also understand that these chores are even more difficult to get around to when you have a crawling or walking baby at home with you all day.

Vacuuming is almost impossible because baby follows you around and tries to hold on to the cleaner risking catching tiny fingers in spinning brushes, washing and ironing clothes becomes a battle of wits because baby climbs into your washing basket, or even climb into the washing machine baby even tries to reach up to the ironing board to touch the iron or pulls at the clothes risking serious burn injuries.

Babies and toddlers are curious creatures and want to be involved in everything that you are doing which can be very dangerous for them, when you are cooking they try to see what is in the oven going as far as trying to open the door.

The only real chance you have to do any chores is when baby tires them-self out and goes for an afternoon nap. giving you around an hour to whizz around the house like a possessed demon trying and ultimately failing to get everything done.

As a parent my first priority is the safety and well being of my children and although some people think of playpens as prisons for children, I would rather that my child had a safe environment to play in rather than risk serious injury as I get on with the chores around the house that need doing.

Graco TotBloc Pack 'N Play Playard with Carry Bag

My son Jason just loves playing with his toys in his Graco playpen and it allows my wife and I to get on with our chores around the house in the knowledge that he is safe from harm and that he can still interact with us and see us at all times.

The Graco Tot Block provides a safe environment for Jason, the sides are tall enough that he cannot climb out and the fine mesh sides means that he can see out of his playpen without having anything for his feet to grip on that would allow him to climb out.

Padded on all sides Jason's playpen comes with a padded folding mat which allows him to stand without the worry of hurting himself if he falls over.

Jason loves his Playpen so much that he has been known to fall asleep in it on many an occasion and when we cover him with a blanket he looks so comfortable and happy in it.

The Graco Is easy to construct and can be done in less than a minute, pull up the bottom of the playpen lock the sides, push down the bottom put in the padded mat and put baby in.

The playpen folds and fits into the padded mat and carry case in seconds for easy storage and it fits easily into the trunk of your car when travelling.

A Safe Environment for baby

A Playpen provides your baby a safe environment and gives you the peace of mind that your child is safe allowing you to get on with your life and chores knowing that baby can see you at all times and that you can see baby.

It is not a prison for babies as some people seem to believe because you are still with your child, talking with your child and bonding with your child as you get on with things that have to be done.

Playpens also double up as travel cots so you can take them with you on vacation or overnight stays knowing that your child is safe and sleeping in a clean bed overnight.

Yeah those Graco playpens are the ones I had for my two kids and they were a great help as you could even fold them up and take them on Holiday too. A great and useful hub Jimmy!!

Your voice of experience here is obvious - great recommendations, Jimmy. A child's comfort, safety, and fun are important when choosing a playpen. Glad Jason enjoys his colorful one!
