Cool Gaming Names Trick For Characters and Gamertags
Stand out from the crowd in your favorite online game with a funny, unique and original gamer tag and cool character name
Unique character names range from the strange to the hilarious but in a virtual world gaming environment they are also surprisingly hard to come up with. This is because the name has to feel right for your avatar and because, most often, a game will not let a gamer copy an existing name, it must be unique.
I'd like to share a technique I've used to come up with many fun and memorable character names that I've receive private messages from other gamers just to tell me my avatar has the best gamer name ever. Being complimented on a great game name feels amazing. This naming technique has worked for me.
Step #1 - Use A Cool Last Name As A First Name
There are numerous lists of cool last names to choose from but I prefer to use one that is sorted by popularity. I'll provide a list of popular last names below to help you choose one. The trick to this method is to use that last name as a cool first name. Example: One of the most popular last names in the US is "Smith" so you would use this cool last name as your character's first name. You're ahead of the game already since you know the name to be popular.
Step #2 - Repeat The First Name And Add A Few Letters
Select a short 3 or 4 letter word and add it to the end of the original name. Example: If your fresh first name was "Smith" and you choose the word Axe as your finisher then your game name would become Smith Smithaxe. If you had chosen "White" as the original name then your character would become "White Whiteaxe". You can play on this method a little bit and go with "Whitey Whiteaxe", have fun with the end result a little!
Popular additives include God, Son, Ram etc and a longer additive is OK too such as beast, stone and roar, bear, fox etc. See if you can come up with a great additive and if you do please share it in the comments below!
Step #3 - Try your finisher on this list of cool last names
Tip: Don't like having first and last names? Just use one!
Tip: Try your own last name with your finisher too!
Jenkins (Sorry, Leeeeeeeeroy Jenkins is taken!)
Tip: Still having trouble generating a cool name? Use an action word with your finishers! All hail Kickaxe!
This list of popular last names came from census data and were the most common in the US during the year 1990. If none of them worked for you the beauty of this method is that you can apply it to ANY list and are certain to find a combination that has not already been taken. I hope this name generating method helps you find cool character names that you are happy with. If it does I'd love to hear the name in the comments below. Thanks for visiting!
