Gifts For Preschoolers

Gift Ideas for Preschoolers

Having a hard time coming up with a gift idea for a preschooler?  If so, this article provides a few suggestions for you.  Three and four year olds are at a creative stage in their lives.  They love experimenting, finding out about themselves and discovering new adventures.  Pretend play is a big part of their playtime.  Want to be sure to get the preschooler on your list something they’ll treasure?  Read on for a few ideas.

Young children are quite imaginative.  They love to pretend and play dress up.  You can’t go wrong with a dress up kit for a young child this age.  If the child you are buying for is a little boy, you could choose a pirate, firefighter or police theme.  A TV character may be appropriate. A lot of little guys right now enjoy watching Go Diego Go! They would be quite excited to pretend to be Diego.

As for little girls, what little girl doesn’t dream of being a princess?  Look to your favorite fairy tales for a theme.  Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty are ones that most little girls are familiar with.  Adorable princess dress up costumes are available to buy singly or as a whole treasure box of costumes.  This is one toy that keeps on giving, with many hours of play ahead.  Dora, the Explorer is admired by most little ones.  They love to put themselves in the story line and the show is quite interactive.  Dress up Dora clothes are a favorite of young girls.  If the child is a bit older, they may look up to Hannah Montana and want to dress like this TV icon.

You can’t go wrong with arts and crafts kits.  These keep little hands busy on indoor days and are a must have.  Bright, vibrant crayons and markers combined with glitter glue, safety scissors and plenty of doodle and construction paper will be appreciated by both child and parent.  Most little ones will also appreciate colorful stickers. Hours of fun will be had with an arts and crafts combination and it will bring out the young artist in any child.

A puppet stage and some hand puppets are a great gift for these little ones.  Portraying the characters will enhance their language development and build their confidence.  They will also enjoy being part of the audience.

What preschooler doesn't like to build?    I haven’t found one yet.  Blocks geared to their age level are a perfect gift for the hard to buy for child.  They will be entertained while building houses, forts, bridges and castles.   Each time they play with the blocks will be a new adventure.  They will love the challenge of trying to build their tower higher and higher.

Know the child you are buying for.  What are his or her likes and dislikes?  One of the above gift ideas should be appropriate for the child in question.  Go out and explore.  Have some fun. Bring out the child in you.
