Gold behind Rust

Updated on April 8, 2016

The kids were crying.

The mother was nagging.

The stomachs were rumbling.

The store was closed.

The faucet was dry.

The house was due.

Days and nights had slept.

Less and emptiness became an epoch and routine.

The clock had lost its axis.

The window had opened.

The dusty light came in.

The deal was set on the table.

The river of list was scribbled by your wife.

The tears of poverty were shown by your kids.

The only option was a YES.

It was a battle of your tongue.

It was a challenge of your brain.

It was a hazing of your body.

They stept on your dignity.

They insulted your capability.

They mocked your personality.

You closed your eyes to quit.

You closed your fist to fight.

You opened your mouth to voice your right.

But everything was just sketched in your mind.

Your wrecking house was still built in your clouds.

Your family need to fill their empty paunch.

The box of hardwork was shipped.

The voice of happiness of your kids was echoed.

But the checklist was still far from completion.

Calendars were crossed out once again.

Diploma of your trophies were your goals.

Checks on the list were on top you head gear.

Rust became bronze as years passed by.

Bronze became silver as half a decade ran by.

Silver became gold as the crystal years of working lapsed by.

The life of your family had changed.

They satiated their taste buds.

They wore the trends.

You smiled seeing their selfies with their new sunglasses.

You desired to kiss the new lipstick of your wife.

But, you frowned and cried to check your empty inbox.

Your little boy had grown up with metals on his neck.

Your shy baby girl had bloomed in her viral video of embarrassment.

Your wife's skin had lighten by oppressing the poor parlor worker.

You closed your eyes again.

You gripped your fist to understand.

You knelled to ask why.

Your phone rang as the sun rose for your birthday.

The smile on hello had turned to weary on bye.

The birthday present was the river of checklist.

You tried to change rust to gold for their wants.

You swallowed every nail of sacrifice for their needs.

But you never knew your waiting period for the bright light of gold.

Your body became weak but no one strengthen you.

Your cold but no one dared to warm you.

Your eyes were closed but no one tried to open them.

Such a sad commentary on society. A compelling work.
