Grandparenting Is Great
Today when I sat down on the floor to play with my nine- month-old granddaughter Serena I realized that what they say about being a grandparent is true. You know you've heard it all before. But, the fact that you can turn them over to their parents after a time is fantastic. You don't feel that pressure to carry on no matter what. And, we all know that is what you have to do when you have children.
As a grandparent though, you can figure you'll get the other things you need to do ,done, after playing with the kids. At my granddaughter's age it's great too because now she can say a few things, crawl, eat food, listen to books, and stand up holding onto something.
She actually seems to know what I'm talking about when I say "Look at the two cats. One. Two." She smiles a big smile when I count or say the vowels for her. It's fun. Then when it's time for her nap I can go off and work in the studio or my office, Somehow she makes life seem balanced. When I'm with her I don't feel I'm missing any part of the progress she's making in her little life,
I do love though, that I'm not the person who has to get up during the night. I did that already. Now it's time for the next generation to step in. We get the babies when all their needs have been taken care of for the most part. We just have to take care of feeding the little ones and changing their diapers, and keeping them interested in something while we are with them. If they need to go in for a check-up the next day we don't worry about it, it's going to be taken care of by the parents, It's great not having to worry about everything like we did when our kids were young.
