Healthy Activities for You and for Your Child
Many children today struggle with obesity. Did you know that every fourth child in Australia is overweight? As a parent you should make sure that your child stays active and face no weight troubles. Studies have shown that the children whose parents who lead healthy lifestyle tend to be more active as well. This means that you should also eat healthy and exercise regularly. One of the ways to keep both yourself and your child fit is to exercise together. Here are a couple activities you can do together.
All the children love playing tags or some other games that have a tag component. You can play classic tags, sardines or cops and robbers. Each of these will get your children move more than they would otherwise move during the whole week. Call their friends or neighbors and have them play with you. The more players there is the children will have to run more. Even if you do not play with them you should stay outside with them and keep sure that no one falls down and gets injured.
One of the best ways to make sure your children stay active is to sing them up for a sports class. But even if they attend organized sports classes you should still have them participate in a family and friends football or basketball game once per week. In order to make sure they enjoy it and have fun, you can try to come up with funny team names and have both teams have their own colors. Make the game last for around two hours and you will see how your children will get exhausted. A single game like this per week can help them stay fit.
If you live near a lake or a beach, you can take your children there and think of fun games to play in the water. Swimming is one of the best ways to keep you children fit as well as to have them entertained. Skim boarding, surfing and inner tubing are just some of the activities you can do in the water. You can also play beach volleyball or football. On the other hand, if there is no beach anywhere near you, you can always take your children to a swimming pool. If they seem interested, you can later sign them up for swimming lessons.
All the children like riding bike. But they will like it even more if they get to do it with you. Make sure you go for a ride together at least twice a week. Instead of buying a standard bike you can think about getting electric bikes like the ones from Eurocycles, for both you and your children. Those are quite popular among Australians and can provide your children an alternative to standard bike riding. Set some goals like destination, distance or time and try to make a game out of it every time you go for a ride together.
All of these activities will make both you and your children move and stay in shape. Only if you try hard and participate in all the sports activities will you children be keen on doing so as well. Above given activities are some of our suggestions, but do not stop there. Always try to think of new interesting things you do together with your children that will get you both out of the house.
