How To Find A Good Babysitter

Updated on March 27, 2011

Word of Mouth and Agenceis

Probably the best way to find a babysitter that is good is to ask people you know if they know of any babysitters available that they would recommend. Try more to ask parents that may have children of the age that can be a babysitter rather than those that have young children that have a babysitter, as those families may not want to lose their sitter to you. Also, posting an ad at a church or in a church bulletin can help.

Additionally, many large cities have agencies for occassional as well as regular sitters. These agencies may have a fee to use, but it can be worth it as the sitters have had their references checked.

There are many different sites to look for sitters online. Many have a fee to join and you usually have to do your own background check on the applicants, but it is a good option if you do not know anyone to ask for recommendations. Also, often it ends up cheaper than agencies.

Here is a list of a few sitter sites: (childcare section)
