How to Beat a Bully: and Have Fun Doing It

Updated on March 23, 2012

Bullies; they are everywhere and effect everyone. Whether or not it is in school or online, bullying has become a trend that needs to be broken. We need to break it child by child and school by school and here are some tips how!

Now i know a lot of how to websites and bully help sites say things like, ignore him and don't let the bully bother you. That is the part that is easier said than done. As much as you would like to ignore and turn the other cheek, words still hurt. When you are ridiculed for something that you are already self conscious about, it isn't an easy thing to ignore.

I have some steps that can help you beat that bully without violence and without just ignoring the problem.

Step 1.

The first step to beating a bully and beating abuse is to find your friends. You may have people who stand with you and those are the ones you want to look for. If any of your friends partake in the ridicule or avoid helping you out, then they shouldn't really be your friends. You need to take the ones that will stand by your side and keep them close.

Step 2.

Realize that it isn't how the world views you. The views and words of one person should not change how you feel about yourself. You need to be confident in yourself and think of every positive thing you have. Do not let those words bring you down so far that you can not find yourself anymore.

Step 3.

Enjoy time with your friends and learn that the words the bully says can not hurt you. Only you can hurt yourself by taking them to heart. Yes, as he says them they will hurt you, but you need to learn to be resilient and make sure that you can brush them off.

Step 4.

Let the bully see that you will not let them treat you poorly anymore. This is the most important step and the part where you need your friends the most. You need to show the bully that you are not going to sit back and be abused. Standing up to the bully is the only way they will know that you aren't going to be afraid.

Bullying is a serious problem. If you think you are being seriously bullied you need to seek help from a parent, teacher, or someone you can trust. We all need to rise above bullying and we need to rely on each other to do so. If you or someone you know is in serious danger or depression because of bullying, please get real help.

Very insightful and well said Cory! This is an issue that needs to be stopped. People who bully are usually victims of abuse themselves. A very sad cycle that needs to be broken.
