Ideas to make bedtime easier for parents and kids

If you have kids then you know bed time can be one of the hardest times for kids. Not only do some kids hate bath time before bed, but getting them to calm down to want to sleep or if they've watched a scary movie they might just be scared. The thing to remember is that there is always a way to help keep your kids calm or to turn bed time into a fun time for them. Here are a few ideas of things that you can do to make getting ready for bed and going to bed an easy thing for your kids.

Make bath time fun with toys.

One thing that parents can do to help make their kids want to take a bath is to bring their favorite hobbies into the tub. If the kids like action heroes or animals, buy the bath time toys that move and work underwater. If they like to color or draw, buy different sets of bathtub friendly crayons and sponges with paints that wash off the tubs and tiles. Then find a few more products and rotate them each week or every couple of days for your kids to play with. Another thing you can do is to take the toys and create stories or themes to help get your kids imaginations going to make them more excited about taking a bath.

Buy pajamas that are fun and comforting.

One thing that you can do for kids who hate putting on their pajamas or are afraid of sleeping in their room alone is to buy pajamas that comfort them. Kids pajamas come in a ton of styles and by buying your child's favorite hero or cartoon character on them you can make up a story and tell them that the character is there to protect them. You can also tell them a story and have the character on their pajamas be the hero and make sure they know that that character is there with them all night to protect them. One other way to help keep your kid feeling safe if to buy them a stuffed animal as well. You can tell them that the animal will chase the bad monsters away and keep them safe.

Nightlights and music.

One thing that can be tricky is to find a cd or music that won't keep the rest of the house up. If your kids are afraid of the dark and normal night lights don't work, try getting one that projects cartoons, stars or has rotating disks to keep your kids minds relaxing and not being afraid of the dark. There are also ones that have volume controls and relaxing music or sounds that may be able to help your kids sleep. If you are ok with the sounds or music, this could definitely help to keep your kids feeling safe, and if you aren't you may want to try ear plugs on nights where you cannot get to sleep.

Bed time doesn't have to be a scary or bad time, especially for you and your kids. Instead make it fun with toys for the bathtub, fun sleepwear with cartoon character pajamas or even just giving them a nightlight that keeps them feeling happy and safe. When your kids are happy and excited for bed, you'll be happy to. Please feel free to leave a comment with other ideas on how to make bedtime easier for parents and kids.
