Letter to my Eleven Year Old Daughter
Being a Mother
I have felt blessed beyond measure. Being a mother is the most remarkable, hard and joyous things I've ever done. Carrying a baby in your womb and then delivering is only the beginning. The journey only gets rougher and tougher from there. There are so many delightful moments peppered in amongst some of the hardest decision making of your life. It's one thing to make decisions solely for yourself, but another entirely doing it for someone else knowing full well that whatever decisions you make will impact this little life forever.
God Bless my Child
I have been blessed to be a part of your life. I am so proud to call you my daughter. God brought us together. I needed you and you needed me.
I know there are times when I have to teach you some of life's lessons and it doesn't feel as though I love you. Please know that my love for you is unconditional. You do not have to earn it. It's yours to keep forever. Nothing you do will make me love you any less than I do today.
There will be moments in the not so distant future where you'll think that I am just trying to control you. I hope I can sit back and let you make all the small mistakes we all make growing up, but please do not be upset with me if I fail miserably to sit idly by and watch you make the big mistakes. I care about you way too much to do that.
Remember that I am not the only person on your side. Your Father loves you even more than I do. That's fair to say since he had a head start on me. That man is bonkers for you. He will always be there for you. And, just like me, his love will always be unconditional.
I believe that you and Matthew helped us make the decision to join our two little families together. I cannot thank you enough for that.
There is another man worth mentioning, Jesus. He died on the cross for all of us. His sacrifice proves his love and compassion towards the whole human race.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take. Don't be impressed with your own wisdom..." - Proverbs 3"5-7A
"Give your burdens to the Lord. And He will take care of you. He will not permit the Godly to slip and fall." - Psalm 55:22
"The Lord is good, a strength and stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows (recognizes, has knowledge of, and understands) those who take refuge and trust in Him." - Nahum 1:7
"Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand." - Isaiah 41:10
If you are ever unsure about anything, pray over it. He may not give you the answer you seek or even answer at all sometimes, but remember that all things happen according to His plan and in His own perfect timing. He is always listening and there with you. Hold Him in your heart and He will hold you in His hands.
"God will meet all your needs." - Philippians 4:9
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." - Joshua 1:9
"God will give you strength for every battle, wisdom for every decision, peace that surpasses understanding." - Andrew Guzaldo
Very wise words to live by. God has a plan for you. Let him guide you; listen for His direction.
I am pleased and honored to be your Mom.
I love you!
