Motherhood is not a job for wimps. Since the beginning of time the duties of a mother consisted of a capable woman responsible for taking care of the house and family members. Fulfilling the essential role of raising a child to be a responsible factor of society is a commitment which last for eighteen years, if not longer.
Many would believe that a mature woman is needed to properly raise a child to be a successful member of society.
However in Mary’s case, (The Mother of Jesus) was said to be 14 years old when she married Joseph a much older man. B.C. (Before Christ) It was common for much younger women to marry older men. Such marriages involving younger women are still common in parts of the world, Africa, South Asia,Southeast and East Asia, West Asia, Latin America, and Oceania.
Every mother knows that raising a child has its sacrifice. However Mary’s trials were different from any other woman, because God sought out Mary. It was said that Mary was a fair girl. What stood out to God most was her faith and willingness to be used for a greater purpose. Mary’s attitude is very different from young teenagers. Young girls around Mary’s age are usually self- absorbed, concerned about their looks, and boy crazy. The fact that Mary was not your average self-centered teenager proves that she had what it took to unselfishly raise her infamous son.
Perhaps even a mature woman would struggle with the thought of an Angel named Gabriel sharing the strange event that their lot in life is to give birth to a child, who is destined to become the Messiah.
Raising A child can bring about dangerous trials known to some as the snake in the garden. Our role as a mother is to step on that snake through faith protecting our children from the painful snake bites in life.

Through the instruction of a guardian angel Joseph was advised to flee with his family to Egypt in order to protect a child with a great purpose.
Perhaps one of the most troubling thoughts that Mary struggled with was accepting the fact that her child was born to sacrifice His life for others.
