Life is adventurous with two boys and they love to explore the world around them! At least once a month, we try to plan a special outing. Here are some of our action-packed adventures:

FREE

  1. If you live close enough, take your son to the airport. Find a parking lot where you can park and sit on the back of the car. Watch the planes take off and land.
  2. Find a nearby creek (ours is 5 minutes away). Pack buckets, shovels, fishing poles and fishing nets. Spend the day exploring the creek with your son.
  3. Take your son to the nearest state park. Most parks offer hiking/biking trails and fishing spots.
  4. Go to the zoo.
  5. Spend the day geocaching. If you are not familiar with geocaching, (I only heard about this a year ago) it is a free, real-world outdoor treasure hunt. We have went geocaching once, SO FUN!!! Check out http://www.geocaching.com/ to find the treasures in your area.
  6. Visit the local fire station.

Under $30

  1. Spend the day at the race track. Check out the different cars and watch them race.
  2. Go putt-putt.
  3. Take him to ride go-karts.
  4. Take him to see an age-appropriate action movie at the theater.
  5. Go to a sporting event. My boys are in to motor sports like their dad. However, my older boy plays baseball in the spring. I need to take him to see a MLB game this summer.
  6. Find a local assembly plant that you can tour. My boys are curious and enjoy learning how things are made!

I hope you have at least found one new idea! Enjoy your adventure with your son(s)!

I love these ideas stephanieb27. My boys are 4 an 2 1/2 so the geocaching might be too old for them, I think, but I love the airport idea since they love planes and the fire station idea is a great one too!

Thanks, Careermommy! My youngest is really into any type of transportation so he loves airplane watching! Have fun, fellow-mommy-of-two-boys! :)

Well my friend, I don't have a mother and my son is twenty-eight and quite busy with his girlfriend, but I still enjoyed these suggestions. :)

Great ideas Stephanie! I learned something new today with your number 5 " Spend the day geocaching"; I am sure my two sons would have loved that one. Now they are on they own but when we can, we have activites with them too!

      Voted up and interesting!
