My Daughter, My Heart
My kids are my heart. I love nothing better than spending quality time with my family. My baby girl Ellie just turned thirteen. She asked me to make one of her favorite dinners for her birthday. Do you want to guess what the teen selected. Prepare yourself, She does have expensive taste. The Menu for the birthday girl: Beef Tenderloin sprinkled with parsley and drizzled with Bearnaise sauce, Baked Potatoes with sour cream, asparagus, corn, cucumber salad, fresh baked dinner rolls, and grass hopper pie for dessert.
What a lovely day. My family and I went to the mall to shop for the birthday girl. We came home and the kids did homework. My twin sister and I put on our aprons and got started on the fabulous dinner. We really enjoy cooking. Our father was an incredible cook and taught us young about the culinary arts. Making Beef Tenderloin is an art all by itself. If you cook it too long or not long enough, it is just not the same. I am happy to report that my beef tenderloin came out perfectly. I am involved in a network organization called "Women Who Really Cook." I was invited to join the group as an honorary member in 2005. This is a network organization of foodies. I am a foodie through and through and my daughter knew to ask for the best meal on her birthday.
Atmosphere is of the utmost importance at a special meal. I set the dining room table with our finest china and silverware. I had a sage green candle in the middle of the table as the center piece. I dimmed the lights just so. Linda and I were in the kitchen cooking and from time to time peeked in at the birthday girl and told her how fabulous the meal was coming along. She grinned ear to ear knowing how much we enjoyed pampering her. She was well aware that auntie Linda and I wanted to make the night extra special for her.
The dinner was ready and it was time to indulge. My birthday girl must have enjoyed it as she had three helpings of the food. I guess auntie and I can say, we did the meal proud. I so love being a mom. It is the best blessing God has ever given me and my sister. My twin sister never married and my kids are like her own. My kids have two moms that dote on them.
Thanks God for my wonderful life and children. I am grateful for my family, home, and the love you shine on us constantly. You are wonderful all the time and my heart feels deep gratitude.
