My Girls: The Faces That I Love….
Little faces that I have loved from before I even laid eyes on them;
Shining eyes that can look right through to very my soul;
Wrinkled up noses that love to take in the smell of my perfume and ask would I share a bit, too;
Sweet Lips that speak my name so softly or loudly depending upon their mood;
Pounding hearts that beat rhythmically and happily in my presence;
Tiny fingers that hold my hand through good and bad times as well;
Round Bellies that I have blown raspberries on eliciting pure delight and squeals;
Legs that run to me in times of need or want and still run from me to be chased in a game of hide and go seek;
Ticklish toes that love to be kissed even in the stinkiest of moments;
These are quite simply my girls.
For those who don't know me, I am a stay at home mom to two beautiful and wonderful little girls who I love and adore, but who can even on a good day drive me quite mad. I think most moms can agree that children are blessing, but can try even the most patient of people. However, they do very much inspire me.
My good friend and a fellow Hubpages writer Michelle (Midget34) told me to write on what inspires me, especially with poetry. So, I took her advice and the above poem was born out of it. I am not a poet by any means, but for some reason I sat down looking at a recent picture of them and the above came to me and hit me like a bolt of lightening. Thank you Michelle and thank you to my girls, Emma, who is 3 years old and Lily, who just turned 2 years old.
Yes, I really have two girls only 16 months apart (get asked more often then not if they are twins) and as crazy as it may sound and be around my house everyday, they are mine and wouldn't change a minute of it, but maybe then again when they act like this all beats are off. Just joking, seriously I love my little girls!! I am probably prejudice, but who wouldn't just look at the faces in the picture below that inspired me and prove me wrong.
