The Cab Ride

I was in my cab, on my way back home from college. There was a slight drizzle and the roads were wet with rain. Its a long ride and I usually put my earphones on to tune out from my surroundings which is usually annoying traffic jams. After a long day, my eyelids were getting heavier by the second even with music blaring in my ears. As I was trying to fight sleep, something caught my attention. It was a DUNKIN’ DONUTs Advertisement. I quickly planned in my mind to go out with my friends this weekend to try the new BURGER that had been introduced to their menu recently.

Just then my phone vibrated in my pocket. It was my mom, worried about me being stuck in the inevitable monsoon-caused traffic jams. The concern in her voice was palpable.

After my mom hung up, it dawned upon me, how, I had not thought of going out with her to try out the burger at Dunkin. How very conveniently I had made a plan of staying away from home yet another day.

We all are a part of a manifest creation that has an inherent property of change and movement. In our fast paced lives, we take the people closest to us, for granted. It is true that the materialistic world requires us to be on our toes all the time, socialise with our peers so we are constantly updated about the opportunities that are mushrooming around us, submissions, deadlines, parties, exams, social obligations…. the list is ENDLESS.

In today’s world time is a very expensive commodity. Do our loved ones not deserve our time?

No amount of success can compensate for the disconnection with our loved ones.

So, next time you stumble upon a new restaurant’s Advertisement, or while buying tickets for your favourite actors’ s movie, think of people who have truly devoted their time in making your life better.

Give It a Thought

We all are a part of a manifest creation that has an inherent property of change and movement. In our fast paced lives, we take the people closest to us, for granted. It is true that the materialistic world requires us to be on our toes all the time, socialise with our peers so we are constantly updated about the opportunities that are mushrooming around us, submissions, deadlines, parties, exams, social obligations…. the list is ENDLESS.

Remember to show to Gratitude

  • Inculcate a habit of sharing your life's happenings with your family and friends.
  • Learn about the happenings in your close ones' lives.
  • Show your near and dear ones that you care, make efforts to be with them.

Here's a great tip

So, next time you stumble upon a new restaurant’s Advertisement, or while buying tickets for your favorite actors’ s movie, think of people who have truly devoted their time in making your life better.

"I value the friend who for me finds time on his calendar, but I cherish the friend who for me does not consult his calendar."

We often take the people who really count for granted, and then one day they're gone, and we regret our indifference forever.
