For My Daughter Meaghan

Updated on September 6, 2012

Alone in my choice to bring you to life.

A mother alone, without being a wife.

Alone every morning and into the night.

How would I teach you wrong from right?

I searched for some wisdom, and passed it to you.

You saw my mistakes, and my challenges too.

Search for all goodness. Believe in your voice.

Freedom allows you to make your own choice.

And if you fall short, still believe you will rise.

Pray for your strength every morning and night.

Have compassion for those who can't find their way.

Don't judge, but reach out to those gone astray.

Be grateful for angels that always appear.

You will find them. Just open your eyes and your ears.

You will see them in strangers, in teachers, in friends.

They will find you when all faith in life seems to end.

Do not be afraid to open your heart

to love and to life. You won't fall apart.

Work hard and play harder. Relax and have fun.

Swim, hike and bike. Walk, skip and run.

Enjoy the outdoors. Don't hide behind walls.

When a friend is in need, always answer the call.

Leave the world better than I could give you.

You CAN change the course of this planet of blue

See all of life's beauty,

and also it's pain.

Remember I love you.

Remember your name.
