Our child guide
If I say so myself,we ended up with some real solid, hardworking, children.
We have been married 26 years and have had many hard knocks. We raised 3 children thru these times.I am NOT one to preach on how to do anything. This web page is just to tell you how we did some things. You never know, may come in handy.
First and foremost,a good church family is important. Not just sending your kids to Sunday school, but you going yourself.
We also found that every child IS different.Different punishments, different esteem builders.
When a child makes something or brings work home from school,we paid utmost attention to it.Not just glance, but give feedback.Children need to know we listen and care!!
As for punishments, they must always suit the "crime".We had one child a whack on the behind did wonders, another that would go right back and do it again with spankings, but if you put him in the corner it would solve the problems. You need to experiment and find what works.Spanking on a butt and "beating" a child are NOT the same thing--NEVER beat a child!!
Kids watch and copy us;honesty IS the best policy.Kids learn how to lie from us.
Last but not least, never tell a child they are stupid, ignorant,or any other words that are downgrading.Oh well, they're a bit overweight, don't call them fat and expect them to change--how about taking them out and you both burn some calories.
It's all just common sense and prayer--With both you CAN raise some GREAT kids!!
