Princess Gifts for Girls

Updated on March 6, 2015

Princess Gifts Mean Happy Girls

Just about every little girl loves princesses. Even tomboys like to have a crown and a scepter on hand. Luckily, the toy market caught on to this in a big way about 12 years ago and the array of princess toys, collectables, costumes and more has never been bigger. You can easily find something for every little girl who wants to be a princess.

Princess Crowns

One of the first things that every little princess needs is a cute crown. The exact type of crown doesn't matter as much as two factors: color and sparkle. Even if it's flimsy plastic, if it sparkles and has some color to it, little girls will love it. Whether you choose gold, silver, pink or white, make sure that the crown has some sparkly aspect to it for maximum little girl excitement.

A Princess' Scepter

A nice scepter is more than just something to whack little brothers with- it's a sign of a princess' power. The scepter should resemble a crown, with plenty of scrolly details and sparkles. Most are made in the same colors as crowns- silver, gold, white and pink. Most are plastic, though there are metal scepters. If you want to avoid catastrophe and mischief, a plastic one is probably best.

Princess Costumes

Though a simple pink or blue dress will usually do when a girl wants to look like a princess, some girls will appreciate a full costume to wear. These don't have to be expensive, but they do have to be girlie and over the top. There are a number of different styles to choose from: simple, Disney themed, fairy tale themed, Barbie themed and specialty types. Some of the specialty ones have wings or even LED lights in them to add bright color and light-up sparkle. The LED models are surprisingly affordable, and it's hard to impress a little girl more than with a princess dress that actually lights up.

Princess Accessories for Little Girls

To complete the fantasy, there are a number of accessories available. These include princess gloves, play jewelry, hand mirrors, silly bands, purses and more. With several accessories at the ready, girls can mix and match their items with their moods. They can even share with friends who come by for a play date.

There are so many items now that there are ones for every age group and every interest. There are do-it-yourself princess accessories for girls who love to make things and work with crafts. There are items that are small and subtle, like stick-on princess earrings and nail decals. There are also the big, over-the-top items like the large jewelry sets that let little girls feel appropriately fancy. Some of these include big hair jewelry sets with barrettes and snoods. There are even princess wigs that give girls a whole new identity as a fantasy princess- at least for an afternoon of play.

They make them for little girls- they also make little clip-on ponytails and buns.

Yeah, that little girl looks so adorable! I might suggest this to my wife's friend as a party theme. Her daughter is having her 7th birthday next week. She's not too young to wear women's wigs, don't you think? I mean, it's just a party, and she needs to feel like a princess.
