Aamir Khan's Satyamev Jayate - Child Sexual Abuse in India

Satyamev Jayate - Child Sexual Abuse/Sexual Assault in India
In the Satyamev Jayate episode aired on 13th May 2012 highlighting child sexual abuse in India, Aamir Khan starts off the show in a light hearted manner stating how most children find it annoying that their parents give them way too much attention or care but then claim to understand that very same feeling later on in life when they become parents themselves. He calls himself a “young parent” and justifies this term by saying that he recently had a son (via surrogacy) making him a ‘young’ or ‘new’ parent. This was only the calm before the storm that was to come in the show. It was revealed during a research that nearly 53% of the Indian respondents had faced sexual abuse some time or the other when they were a child. Quite an alarming number isn’t it? The show interviews a number of people who had gone through child sexual abuse. If you think more girls in India face child sexual abuse than boys, then you can’t be more wrong. Satyamev Jayate informs you on how more boys face this torture – more than 50%. At the end of the show, Aamir Khan gave a workshop for children aged 5-10 on how to deal with "dangers" that lurk them.
In the second week of the show, Twitter wasn't trending on Satyamev Jayate related topics whole day which was not the case with the first episode when SMJ & female foeticide topics were being talked about the entire day. The few topics I saw trending earlier during the day was "Haule Haule" (the song from episode 2), #childsexabuse. As of now, there's nothing trending. Will all the hype die down eventually for the show?
On this page you will get to watch episode 2 of Satyamev Jayate highlighting child sexual abuse in India, what you can do to help and other related topics.
Child Sexual Abuse - Episode 2
The second episode of Satyamev Jayate was aired on 13th May 2012.
Topic: Child Sexual Abuse in India
Cause: Push a strong law combating child sexual abuse. The bill stating this law is still pending in Rajya Sabha.
Discussion: Child sexual abuse is not happening in minute numbers as opposed to popular notion. A very disappointing thing to be noted is that our country does not offer any law whatsoever to strictly rectify such monstrous acts. Victims were interviewed during the show and the trauma that could be seen in their face whilst explaining the situation is unbearable. Don't let this happen to anyone else. Educate your child on how important it is to say "no", or the safety measures they have to take (as explained in the workshop by the end of the video). The least we can do is to enforce our government to strictly consider a law to promptly and effectively punish pedophiles.
How to support this cause (in India): SMS Y to 5782711. This will donate 1 rupee for the cause.
