Special Needs Children

Updated on October 20, 2014

Parenting a special needs child.

There is so many factors that makes a child a special needs child. It can range from birth defects, to hereditary. There are some who can walk and talk and others who can't. Either way, they all can be very difficult to handle on a daily basis. I have worked with them and seen the struggles that they and their parents go through. Overall though, they can be the most loving people that you could ever meet!

Working with them I came to know and understand the fact that they want exactly what we want, love, respect, and dignity.

I learned that they have the same things that we do, such as, good days and bad days. But, there is one thing that sets them apart from us that I wish we had, they harbor no ill wishes or feelings against anyone. They don't dwell on the bad things in life, they just want to be happy and loved.

Being a parent of a special needs child can be difficult and challenging but the reward can be great!

I do speak from my heart and from my learning experience from working with special needs people. They taught me an education that is not taught in schools, it comes from quality time with them, and I love each and every one I meet. :-)
