The Lesson of Life

Updated on July 7, 2017

This evening I heard woman screaming out loud asked for help. It came from my neighbor which the house placed behind my house. We ran to that house where we still able to heard that scream and along with it, we could hear the man shouting out loud like crazy and another woman crying. This house is one part of one big house which separated into 3 doors which each one of it being rent by different families. Around that house, there are so many neighbors, including us, not far away from this house. The screaming; asking for help, the mad shouting and the crying really loud, but no one seems to care since no one came out from their house to check on their neighbor. Only us; me and my Mom. We seen the father pushed his 16 years old daughter against the wall and strangled her neck. His face red by anger and under his raged, her daughter struggled hard to escape from his hand. The mother; the one who’s asked for help, tried to pulled away her husband hands, to let her daughter free. We have no choice and no time to think but to rushed on them and separated them. Surprised by our interruption, the father’s hands in his daughter neck loosen up and she is escape. I held her in my arm and took her away to my home, while Mom tried to calm them down.

Later the girl told me what happened. A week ago, when she and her friends in their way home after school, they meet her father, sit in public places with a woman in his lap, laughing and make out like dirty amoral people. She is feeling so shamed and decided to run from home to stay in her grandmother’s house. But today, because she want to meet her mom, she came back home, thought that her father will be at work, but he is not. Couldn’t controlled her own anger, she encountered her father and they started to argue. She told her father she is really shamed of him and his behavior just like a dog; have no dignity at all because cheated on her Mother in public area. Heard this made her father really furious. He slammed her to the floor, but his child didn’t want to give up and keep yelled at him and also kicked his feet as her way to depended herself. Her Father then grabbed her from floor, slammed her to the wall and choked her. It is when her Mother start screamed for help. It took an hour to be able to calm her down. I walked her to her grandmother’s house so she can be save under her grandmother’s protection and then walked home, full of thought.

In that one hour when she is under my protection, where is her Mom? In her husband side.

Later, when her daughter under her grandmother’s protection, where is her Mom again? In her husband side.

Doing what?

Her daughter nearly strangled to death by her husband, Let alone to report him to the police; she is totally ignored her daughter. She stayed in her husband side, allowed others took custody over her crying miserable daughter; told my Mom that her husband under great stress because he lost his business and it made him easy to get angry and all of it just misunderstanding. She defended her husband in front of my mother; which automatically opposed her own daughter's act, whose got into that fight with her own father, mostly for defending her mother; did not accept her father betrayal on her mother. Even then, I heard the mother went out with her girlfriends and seem doesn’t had any will to check on her daughter at all, like there is nothing to be worry about; it is the sign of denial.

How blind human can be? Sigh!

Hi, Ahorseback. Peacekeeper? LOL. I hope I am, but so far all I did only made a quick response on everything that I seen around me, and I believe it is not too different with many of us here. And yes, human really do care about one another. Unless many still. Thank you, Ahorseback. I will visit you soon. :)
