The Importance Of Safe Baby Bottles

Updated on March 24, 2013

There is such a choice of baby bottles that are available today and while you might want to choose something that is unique and different for your baby, one thing you need to keep in mind is to ask yourself whether they are also safe baby bottles.

The first thing you need to decide is if you want plastic or glass baby bottles. Some people prefer glass thinking that they are more hygienic than plastic but others think safe plastic baby bottles are better because they don’t break even if they were to fall. You might want to look at the popular brands available and choose from them because you can then be assured of a minimum high standard of quality. You could choose top rated baby bottles from EvenFlo, Gerber, Avent or Playtex.

If you use baby bottles, you need a baby bottle sterilizer. Of course, most baby bottles are dishwasher safe and can be washed in your regular dishwasher. However, you must remember that everything your baby puts into his mouth should be sterilized to prevent any bacterial attack on his system. Sterilizing baby bottles is vital especially when your baby is between one and five months old. Remember that your baby’s immune system isn’t developed as yet and you need to be very careful till he gets more immune to outside infection.

Of course, you could also use disposable baby bottles if you don’t want to go through the trouble of sterilizing baby bottles. Or better still, you could use disposable baby bottle liners. Yes, these work out to be expensive but they are an option especially if you are breastfeeding and the baby bottle is just a once-in-a-way thing.

Take a look at all the baby bottles available and also see what your baby seems to like. Like we said, there is such a wide choice of designs, colors, shapes and sizes. Whichever one you choose, make sure that it is safe for baby and you can do this only if you were to buy a good brand or make enquiries or search online. If you are not sure, ask someone, especially someone who has had babies in the recent couple of years. They will remember what baby bottle they used and how it was. Find out whether they knew which was better – glass or plastic baby bottles and maybe you would need to experiment a bit too. So buy two to begin with and buy more of your baby is all right with them. You need to know that the baby bottle is easy to clean and sterilize too.

You could also get yourself a baby warmer so you can make sure your baby gets warm milk every time. These are easy to use – just plug in and put the milk on it. It will get warm in no time at all. Remember, when it comes to baby bottles. There’s nothing more welcome that a full, warm baby bottle.
