The Single Dad Survival Guide
Single Dad. Not Single DEAD.
Let's start things off with a little honesty. (It sorta is the best policy.) You are in for one hell of a ride as a single dad. Whatever circumstances lead you to this coveted title aren't relevant at the moment. I know there are dads out there with tragic stories and there are some that just stepped up because that's what good men do. The point is, you're here now, so now what?
Now the fun begins! Being a dad is the best job in the world! I was nervous at the prospect of being a single father but now that I'm seven years deep in the game I dare say I wouldn't have it any other way. You and your child are on an adventure that will mold the both of you into better people. I won't drag this on for too long but I will offer my first piece of advice. This was given to me years ago by someone I looked up and it is the standard for how I raise my child. Do this and it will make being a single dad the easiest thing ever. You ready? Here it is:
When I found out I was going to be a dad I told everyone I knew. I got a phone call from my cousin and he asked me if I was having a boy or a girl. Just as I was about to answer he stopped me and said the following:
"It doesn't matter what you're having, just know this: If you're having a boy, you be the kind of man you want him to be. If you're having a girl, you be the kind of man you want her to bring home."
Simple, right? Your child is going to be a reflection of you. Show them something worth looking at.
That's all for now, this was after all just the introduction. I will be back with tips on not just parenting, but dating, cooking, fashion and a slew of tips to help you out!
