The Terrible 2's times 2-What it means to have a 2 year old
What it means to be living with the Terrible 2's
It is a normal stage in your child’s development, and they will get through it just fine. The question is, will you? It feels as if you are losing your mind. I feel as if I am talking to a wall when I talk to my children, who are both going through the TERRIBLE TWO’S. There is not a second of quiet time in my life, and barely a moments rest. My daughter is 1 ½ my son 2 ½, if I make it through this stage in their development-I will demand a ribbon of achievement or some sort of survival badge.
The Meaning of Terrible 2’s
The Terrible 2’s in my home means- it is virtually impossible to get two kids to take a nap at the same time.
Terrible 2’s means- It takes a minimum of 2 hours to get out of the house, because someone always needs a new diaper, wants a different toy or insists on a new movie for the car ride.
Terrible 2’s means there is 2 versions (at least) of dinner, each and every night.
Terrible 2’s is praying that they will take two bites of anything on their plate.
Terrible 2’s is, you need two nap times for the kids, but are lucky if you get 1.
Terrible 2’s means, two Motrin, two Tylenol two times every day.
Terrible 2’s means that I am guaranteed two horribly embarrassing tantrums when I decide I am brave enough to venture out of the house with both of them.
Terrible 2’s is, I can never get to bed before 2am, because I am attempting to organize what they destroyed.
Terrible 2’s means; what takes me 2 hours to clean, what takes them two minutes to destroy.
Terrible 2’s is wishing you had two hours of silence to sit in-but settling for two seconds.
Terrible 2’s means two arm-two hands and two eyes are never enough
Terrible 2’s is wishing now more than ever you could be two places at once, because no one is ever going in the same direction when you are trying to catch them.
Terrible 2’s means two outfits per day for two kids equals is part of the reason I must do two loads of laundry every two days
Terrible 2’s is how many of each toy we have to buy to get two minutes without fighting
Terrible 2’s means trying to keep them in time out for two minutes-but two year olds don’t like to sit still
Terrible 2’s is two baths a day-one after lunch-one after dinner because they are guaranteed two have two times more food on their bodies than in their tummy’s.
Terrible 2’s means dirty diapers by the dozen times 2
Terrible 2’s is how many times you pick a full plate of food off the floor twice a day
Terrible 2’ss means that your children’s two favorite words are no longer Mommy and Daddy but now, NO and MINE
But Terrible 2s also means…Two smiles when you walk in the door from work.
It means two goodnight kisses each time you try to put them to bed
It means two giggles from the back of the house when they discovered a butterfly
It means two heart stopping I love you’s when they get home from Grandma’s
It means two people in this world have my eyes and his nose
It means twice the amount of astonishment when lightning strikes or a bunny hops
