The Unexpected Child

At this time, I am happily 7 months pregnant with my angel that I didn’t expect and had no plans for.

It all started on December 25, 2019. When a ER visit turned into something even more surprising...a positive test!

I was rushed to the ER with the most painful back spasm I ever had. I was in tears from the immense pain I was suffering. After some tests and deep breathing, the doctor came in and gave a shot of muscle relaxer that helped tremendously and left.

She comes back and asks my boyfriend and his mother to leave the room for a moment. Then, the doctor proceeded to tell me I was pregnant. I was a little out of it because of the muscle relaxer, but when they came back into the room my boyfriend‘s reaction was total shock.

I was on birth control and thought it was enough but that was a mistake. The primary goal of the birth control was to regulate my periods not prevent conception.

So, the first few months were a bit hard and I was not handling well. I had everything from morning sick that wasn’t in the morning, doubts, and thoughts of an abortion.

As a young, first-time mother, I had no idea what to do. However, my boyfriend has been with me throughout this whole process and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Despite not knowing the gender due to the baby not cooperating during the ultrasound, we continue to prepare for the little ones arrival in the coming months. I am still dealing with the fear of childbirth as many new moms due, but I know I have the support I need to get through.

Now, my recent blood work has come back showing I am anemic. This accounts for a lot of the headaches and dizziness I’ve been having which I thought were just part of pregnancy. So, I’m trying to do all I can to ensure my baby is happy and healthy.

For those of your wondering what it’s name will be, my boyfriend and I have come up with 2 names I‘m in love with already:

Cassius Kile Dean (for boy)

Lyra Anne (for girl)
