Unique Party Ideas for Teens

Updated on July 13, 2010

You don't need a reason to throw a good party, but a lot of times we aren't sure what will be a hit and what will be a yawn.  Spa parties can be a blast, but they are getting a little old.  This year, why don't you throw some parties that your friends will be talking about for years to come?  Some of these ideas are great for co-ed parties too!

Second Hand Party

Okay, this is for the brave girls that at least partially trust their friends.  Start this party early and go to the second hand/thrift stores in your area.  This is actually a very fun date night idea too, if you're very brave that is.

The Rules:

  • Pick outfits for each other, you can't pick it out for yourself.
  • Whatever is picked out for you must be worn that evening.
  • It can be as wild as possible, but needs to be at least mostly appropriate for wherever you are going afterwords.

Then go home, make each other over including hair, nails, and makeup.   Now, wear the outfits out somewhere.  It can be a movie, restaurant, or whatever place you are daring enough to show up in looking a little bizarre.  Make sure and take lots of pictures!

Decorate Your Shoes Party

Have everyone bring in a pair of cotton tennis shoes, whatever color they prefer.  Have fabric markers, fabric paint, fabric glue, ribbons, and anything else that will fit on a shoe (Those little plastic eyeballs can be really creative!).  Your friends will have a great pair of shoes to take home with them!  This can also be done with hats and t-shirts and even sweats or shorts.  Tote bags work too.

Beautify Your Space Party

This party will have to be a serial party, starting at one person's house and then going to each person's house in turn.  The idea is to create a beautiful room for each other.  It can be as dramatic as painting the walls, or just a good cleaning and re-arranging.  Yes, this is a work party, but with the right tunes and snacks, plus being able to go through each other's things can make for a hilarious time.  Plus, you all get a brand new shiny clean look for your room!

Mix and Match Party

For this party, everyone should bring in their accessories, makeup and clothing that just don't work for them.  It's amazing how many of us buy any number of these items and get home to find out they don't work.  Instead of trashing them, save them up and allow everyone to pick through each others items for things that might work for them.  Whatever doesn't work.  Here's the hitch.  For whatever doesn't work, take it to your local second hand store the next day and donate it.

These party ideas should help keep you and your friends busy awhile.  Have fun!
