For my children: A Mothers Wishlist
Hopes and Dreams For My Children
I'm sure every mother has a list like this stored somewhere in the back of her mind. We all have hopes, dreams and aspirations for our children. We all have things we wish for them.
My wishlist for my children may be a little different, but I think if it all came true, my kids would grow up to be happy well-rounded adults.
This is for my children. I hope each one reads it and understands the life lessons behind each wish, hope and dream.
that I could take away your pain, but since I know that feeling pain is part of growing up, I'll wish instead that when the time comes, you let me comfort you.
that you don't always listen to me. Yes, this is a strange hope. But I want you to learn to make your own decisions. I want you to learn about consequences...about cause and effect. So that, in the future, you'll be more apt to think about your actions and the effects they might have on yourself and others.
I hope you never get too old for a hug!
that we will always be best friends. I know there will come a time when you won't want to talk to me because you think I won't understand. That's okay. I'll be waiting with open ears when you finally realize that I was once a teenager too.
that when someone tells you no, you try it anyway. Let me tell you why.
When you were little, you didn't always listen. I would have to tell you "no" 3 or 4 times before you finally quit whatever you were doing. Meanwhile, I had a friend who's kid was perfect. If he was told "No" just one time, he quit whatever he was doing and apologized. I can't tell you how jealous I was. Then one day I was talking with your Grandpa. I told him how frustrated I was that you didn't listen. I told him that I wished you were more like my friends kid. Do you know what he said to me?
"When your friends kid grows up, someone is going to tell him he can't be a doctor, or a pilot or an architect. And he's going to believe that person and give up. But if someone were to tell your kid that he can't be a doctor, or a pilot or an architect, your kids would give him the finger and then try twice as hard to prove him wrong."
So go ahead and try again the next time someone tells you no. You might end up grounded, but you could also end up a doctor.
I hope you always put family first
I wish you would clean your room!
that you will always be in good health. But if, God forbid, something should happen, I will always be there with you. You are a strong person and I know together we can get through anything.
you never give up. Life is going to throw you some curve balls every now and then. Sometimes you may feel like it can't get any worse. It's during these times that you need to persevere. Do what you have to do to make it through the hard times because happier times are just around the corner.
I hope you never stop goofing around!
that you will always have the courage to be yourself. Have your own opinions, your own ideas, your own way of doing things. Be strong and stay true to who you are. Don't let anyone compromise the values and beliefs that you hold dear.
you will always remember just how much you've helped me. My life changed the second you were born. You taught me to love unconditionally. You taught me to have patience. You taught me to have fun. You showed me what true courage and strength are. And for that, I'm saying thank you.
I hope you always have sweet dreams
that you will learn from your mistakes. There's no shame in making a mistake. Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is that you take a good look at that experience and figure out how not to repeat it.
you take every opportunity life gives you. If you get the chance to try something new, don't even think twice about it. Just do it. I want you to experience all the things I never did. Just make sure to take plenty pictures so I can brag to all my friends.
I wish you would have stayed a child for just a little while longer
And one last thing I want you to know
I LOVE YOU KIDDOS!— Mom
