My sisters and I have had so much fun playing games. We love cards and board games (we're scrabble addicts), sharing relationship ups and downs, traveling, birding, exercising, gardening, cooking, canning and sharing the holidays and creating memories along the way with photos and journals of our experiences.

You may have a sister too that means the world to you and I hope this lens will help you to find ways to show your love and appreciation of all she does and means to you. A sister really is a gift!

My Sister My Friend

When we're younger teenagers we never truly seem to appreciate our sisters. Well, at least I didn't. As the oldest sister in the family, I had some responsibilities growing up as a teen that were really chores my parents had my sisters and I doing mostly to keep us occupied until they got home from work that would keep us out of trouble! It worked as we had a daily list of to-do's that included all sorts of cleaning, ironing, cooking, gardening, lawn care etc. My sisters and I never argued unless it was over chores and who wasn't doing this or that good enough or fast enough.... Oh well, it was a good plan for our parents to keep us out of harms way and taught us independence and how to do all sorts of things and we're grateful.

As I went away to college, my relationship with my sisters totally changed and we started hanging out more and loving every minute of it. We became best friends merely by talking and sharing and learning that we were all so alike in many ways and we had fun together! As adult women we continue to be best friends and realize how silly those arguments were as children and young teens.

My sisters and I also grew up to be great at all the tasks our parents had us doing as teenagers and for all those lessons we're thankful! There aren't too many tasks that ever need to be accomplished around our homes that my sisters and I haven't tried to tackle ourselves. We've become DIY masters in house cleaning, painting, crafting, repairing furniture, decorating and staging, organizing, cooking, canning, gardening, making and saving money and even tackling plumbing jobs. We love shopping, antiquing, attending flea markets and finding awesome bargains and share our finds with each other even when we're not together.

My sisters and I have had some amazing laughs and giggles at ourselves while doing many of our home improvements jobs and it wouldn't have been nearly as much fun without their help and companionship! A sisters love is special and there are some things you could never do or share with anyone else but a sister.

This is a smart LED flameless candle that is battery operated. Simply plug in and it will glow just like a real candle without the flames. Judy loves Gus!

My sister loves Gus, the PA Lottery mascot and when she saw him at the mall at a display table she just had to stop everything to get a photo.

I love how she takes the time to do fun things, like meeting Gus when most of us would think it's a waste of time. Gus is apparently pretty happy that she stopped by too!

Here she is with her buddy, Gus! Oh, and she loves the lottery too.

A funny memory with my sister, Judy

When my husband and I were getting ready to sell our first house, we decided to paint and stage it to perfection to help it sell quickly. That meant calling on my beloved sister, Judy! Over the years, we renamed her Jooge and is what we love to call her now. So, Jooge is always up for anything we have going on, no matter how large or small the project and believe me, most of them are LARGE!

Fast forward to one of our painting days and Jooge and I decided it would be much faster and easier if we removed the staircase handrail to paint the wall. So, easy enough we removed the screws (I did that part and Judy held the rail). Then we decided to take the rail up the stairs and set it down in one of the rooms. That railing was so long that we carried it into the first room and for whatever reason that we didn't just set it on the floor, we instead decided that it was too long to spin it around the room and that didn't work. So, we then carried it into each of the other two upstair bedrooms and guess what. Still too long.

FYI: no we weren't on drugs or under the influence of anything -- unless tired and exhausted counts!

So, after all that and starting to laugh at ourselves, we just decided to carry it back down the staircase and out the front door and set it on the lawn.

We then looked at each other and had one of the best laughs of our lives, realizing how silly we were to go through all of that spinning the handrail around each room when all we really had to do was set it down! Anywhere!!

We took a much needed break after that and had some fresh brewed coffee on the porch as we continued to look at each other and laugh our butts off:) Only a sisters love could make a simple task like this so much fun!!!

My only sister is ten years older than me so for our early life together I was the bratty kid sister. But after she moved out of the house, we became friends and someone I turn to for advice. We have a long standing tradition of staying up late drinking coffee and eating brownies when we first get together. Of course now we tend to fall asleep before the brownies comes out of the oven, lol.
