I can talk from the perspective of a grandmother. I've been babysetting for my 16 months old grandson since he was only 2 months old. That was when my daughter went back to work after his birth. I found that with a new infant, there is not too much physical activity needed. Keeping baby clean and dry, give scheduled feedings, and cuddle infant in your arms are the biggest things to do. But playing a tape with very soft music is good too. The music will help to keep the infant relaxed, and stimulated. If the infant’s basic needs are met (keeping baby clean, dry, and fed), then all that is left to do is to cuddle baby and rock with baby in a rocking chair (preferably, but the chair is not really needed) and all should be well.
That is always a difficult choice. I would never let an unsupervised person watch my child in my home or theirs without a nanny cam if the child cannot tell you how her day is. At least in a daycare there are many people around and this is a little safer to me than using a private sitter.
Helpful tips for babysitting your grandchildren and other stray kids. From a seasoned mother and grandmother.ĵ read more
Baby sitting? as the eldest among 4 sibling I had so much fond memories of how I came up a Nanny at the young age.. I remember before when I was in primary years, every summer I ended up taking care the 3 of them and missing those summer free play days with my friends. So we stayed at home most of the time and made those of one of a kind playhouse anywhere we can think of. Like in the masters bedroom, distressing everything, in the living room and even in my parents office area. What was on my mind before as a Big sister/Nanny was to keep all 3 of them safe and to stay in one spot, until they got bored and started having tantrums, that then catched my parents attention. Holla! nanny's got some spare time!
