    You can do this by first taking the initiative to lead by examples or in other words -- practice what you preach. There is no guarantee that the child will ended up taking the right path, because socialization and environment also play a role in the child's overall development. However, you should try to teach the child the right things at all times, and in return, try to upheld all those principles you're trying to instill in that child.

    By following the right path ourselves. They learn by example and imitate what they see. If you are talking but not following the walk, they will too. Spend time at the senior centers, go to church with them. They will respond by showing love and care about others and the moral standards that you are showing them. Read to them and they will love to read.
    If we do not follow the right path and show them that we do not care about it, they will not care. Encourage their love of learning and their love of people. Do this from the very beginning because if you wait until you think they are old enough, it is too late.
    Even then, when they start to school, they will be exposed to children whose parents have not shown the care that you have in raising their children right. Make sure that they know that you will not put up with that behavior from them. It is hard to ensure that they come out following the right path. We can still fail at this but to not attempt it is wrong.
