I totally agree with wheelinallover- they just said it first! The ideal situation would be both parents staying at home and equally participating in the raising of the child/ren.
I work full-time during the day, my husband works at night, and takes care of our daughter during the day. I wish I could stay home, but financially, it is not an option. It works for us, but it is certainly not the ideal situation for all families indeed.
We are lucky that our child has one of us at home to learn from, but it can be tough when both parents disagree with the discipline and has different parenting styles.
Some times, it is best for the child to be in a positive learning environment, which might honestly be away from both parents. Then, the parents can appreciate their children at home because staying at home parenting can be rewarding, but also stressful.
