What do you think about the Obituary of the woman who abused her children?
Simply google the phrase "Obit about NV mom who abused children" and you will find links to the obituary that 6 grown children wrote about their abusive mom. Do you think this obituary was great closure or over board?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article … ntant.html has a pretty comprehensive summary of the obit.
Reading the story disturbs me on many levels and it seems not all the pain has ended. What a shame for the younger generations of her family.
Is it over the top? I don' t think so. Her children deserve the right to express themselves. What a pity they had to wait so long to feel they had any chance of escape.
Unfortunately the weak, the young, and the developmentally delayed are often easy targets for the depraved. If this notoriety makes the children feel better, so be it. Talking about abuse has often helped people heal but, it is usually done with a therapist. I'm sure there are many more stories like this one about but untold. In my job I witnessed more than five a day for many years, and was just one of many social workers working to help end abuse to children. Too bad we can't save all the little ones. Interesting how they all managed to become winners in their lives despite their beginnings. Many are not so lucky!
Personally, I don't know it there will ever be closure for them.
I read a book once about toxic parents. It discusses closure in great detail. From what I've read, true closure would have been coming to peace with it before she died. Because now they don't have the opportunity to face her and express how she made them feel and what she did was so wrong.
I don't think anyone that has suffered abuse is ever free (although I do think victims overcome and thrive). It's a long-lasting scar and wound that time heals, but never forgets.
The article was very sad, indeed.
I read it a couple of days ago. And while I understand the horrendous scars this woman left, it had been 30 years since her children had seen here. I would hope that this kind of exposition wouldn't be the legacy they themselves left.
They could have gotten together as a family and gone over what they experienced comforted each other, compared notes over the abuse. But I think the obit. was way over the top and not only speaks to the horrible character of the mother, but also she may have passed on that cruelty to her children for them to be able to do something like that.
That these unfortunate individuals were finally removed from the horror inflicted by this horrendous woman, and that they survived as well as thrived, is nothing short of a miracle.
If the obituary that this witch quite clearly earned, gave these adult children some relief or a bit of closure....I say, more power to them and bless their broken and battered hearts.
I didn't see anything explaining that the mother from hell was ever punished in any way for the severe physical and emotional damage she caused.....which IS a crime, plainly and simply! Taking her kids away was actually doing her a favor, since she obviously had no love for them. Even if she must be exposed as the monster she was all their lives, post mortem......so be it. Everyone should know the truth. I'm sure she's where she belongs now......this is justice.
YES she is. Our children are precious and deserve only the utmost of respect and love.

How would you define sibling abuse? Is it minimized because most see it as just brothers and sisters fighting? I'm writing a hub about it and would like to know your opinions and experiences.

When does a slap become abuse?I understand that no one should be abused but I believe in today's society, everyone is quick to categorize events into lifestyles. If a husband is subjected to physical and emotional abuse by his wife, he is expected to stand there and take it because if...
