Being a parent now has made me grow up in a lot of ways. It has also made me very nervous and attentive to all the little details you do not realize as a child. I love being a parent and I love the lessons it teaches me in patience, critical thinking, and perception.
I grew up in a single parent home. My mother has been a huge influence. She's a strong, hardworking, and smart woman. When I was younger, I sometimes felt she was too strict with me. Now that I look back and feel grateful for all the moral and cultural teaching she gave me.
I love that she allowed me to be independent, to think for myself, and she wasn't overbearing. I was able to make responsible decisions on my own, or go to her for an opinion.
Being a parent is being more responsible and as the first child in my family I had to show responsibility. A parent has not changed me much I have always been this way know how to be with children and raised in such a loving family it all felt too easy. I learned to love my child and share many great conversations together.
being a parent makes me panicked for the 1st time and the 2nd round too because both my kids are in 12 years age gap. Parenting isn't fun but seeing them all grown up is great contentment
Being a parent has expanded my world. Before I married, I was an independent, self-sufficient and self-centered person. I married a remarkable woman and my world grew as my priorities changed. We were together for five years before my daughter was born, and I was delighted. Another four years, and my son came along. Progressively, I learned to put my wife and children before myself, and my world became a better place in many ways. My children have grown now (28 and 22) and are on their own. We're very thankful and pleased about the way they've developed as individuals. It's not my role to impact the lives of many, but I am a dad to these two characters, and I'm grateful for that.

How should parents deal with lazy, unemployed, still-live-with-Mom-and-Dad adult children? It's one thing if your child loses his job and has to move back home, but how do you deal with one that won't even look for work, thinks you should still provide for all their needs (clean their room, wash...

Do parents own their children? This question can be interpreted in different ways; I'm open to reading what this means to everyone in their own personal responses. I've thought about this myself for years, first as an adolescent and now as a young adult. I've pondered it in different contexts and...

adult children to grow. They are the type of parents who subconsciously sabotage their children's career chances and advancements. They seem to be deathly afraid to allow their children to establish their own independent lives. They want their adult children to be NEAR...

It truly amazes me when overprotective parents lament how immature and irresponsible their adolescent and/or near adult children are. Didn't they realize that they were partly responsible by their intrusive and controlling parenting in making their children childish, puerile, and...

Do you think being a foster parent should be a good deed or a career?Maybe I'm biased, but after a comment on one of my hubs I wanted to see what others thought. Do you think being a foster parent should be a career or a good deed?

Why don't kids respect parents anymore?
