Why parent-child relationships in small families (1-2 children) are friendlier and more upfront
as opposed to parent-child relationships in large families(6 children and more) that ARE often more authoritarian, less upfront, and less friendly?
In small families, parent-child relationships are closer in that in small families, parents are more accessible and friendlier towards their children. In essence,they're also friends as well as parents to their children. However, in large families, parents are harsher, colder, & less accessible.Children in such families don't have a friendlly rapport with their parents nor are they free to have any type of close relationship with their parents.
It could be that the less household members equals the less anxiety of being judged when mistakes are heard about
