To be a single dad is easy if you have the total commitment. I raised my twin daughters from the age of 3 when their mum and I seperated. She wanted to be out all day and night so I really had no choice. It helps a lot if you've been around babies and are accoustumed to toddlers but if not, calling your own mum is the best advice I can give, even though I was around my nieces and nephews til I had my own, I called my mum alot for advice and also just for moral support. (mums really love it when their own son has his kids and give overwhelming support). My twins are now grown but to be a single dad means making a lot of sacrifices, no more nights at pub, can't smoke at all, bad influence on your children, shouldn't bring different ladies home as this really confuses kids and gives them no sense of real lasting love if there's someone new in dad's bed each weekend. And it takes a lot of patience, patience, patience. You're at times going to wonder why you decided to stand up and be a real man because you have no real freedom, and you lose your buddies but in the end it's worth every minute of it and more. To see your kids with that big smile right before they give you that big hug is too awesome for words When they're young you get the pleasure of tucking them in every night, combing their hair is a daily fun challenge if you have girls...............lol but as a dad you'll do it and do it right, even if it takes you half the morn before it looks right. And then they grow up graduate from school, jump in your arms cause you were there the whole time and gave undying support. Then they take that journey toward adulthood with all the life skills they were taught be you !! Makes it all worth while and I would do it again anytime I get a chance !!!

The reason why I joined hubpages is because I'm pregnant and I can't get a job here... while there are a lot of articles on how to earn, I would also like to hear from single moms out there, especially when it comes to dealing with depression, self-pity, stress etc... thanks a lot.

Being a single woman with no kids I often think about having a baby one day. I guess since turning 30 my "clock" is definitely ticking but at the same time I am in no rush to get married. (Just ended a relationship bcuz he wanted to get married and I didn't) However I always told myself...
