What beverages are you exactly referring to? In my mind, anything that is considered a "malt beverage" equals alcohol, and therefore, is a big "no no"! If you mean a non alcoholic beer, I'd still say "no" because they do contain small amounts of alcohol, AND think about the message you're sending your kid by letting them drink "beer". To me it's like the same message as candy cigarettes, which I am happy to say, I haven't seen for quite a while. However, if you're referring to soda, then it's really up to you. It does have an awful lot of sugar though so I would save it as a special treat and don't give him very much ( I'd say 1/2 a can at the most ). I don't allow my 10 and 12 yr. old step daughters to have caffeinated sodas, but that is my choice.
