There are many days in my life that were incredible and that I will never forget. One experience that I had, most people never get a chance at, and I will rmember it always.
I had been to visit my parents in Nova Scotia and was in the Halifax airport waiting to go home. It got later and later and they had not boarded the plane. I kept going up and asking how late we would be, because we only lived an hour and a half away from the airport, so I needed to catch my husband before he left.
The reason for the dely became evident when they started asking for people to take another flight for 100$. The flight was seriously over-sold. By then I did not have the 100$ option because my husband had left for Montreal. I decided to use the squeaky wheel rule. I bugged that flight attendant every two minutes pointing out my re-confirmation. finall she had had enough and said "you are with Delta aren't you?". I thought she meant Delta was my US carrier from Boston to Burlington, VT, so I said yes. She informed me in that case I could ride in the bulk head or something like that. she should have known when I asked what it was that I did not know much about airplanes. The next thing I knew I was strapped in bewtween the two pilots with a set of head phones being offered to me, along with a cup of coffee. When the Pilot asked me what I did for Delta, the Whoops! set in. WE are now well away from Halifax and they are carrying me in the cabin illegaly. Luckily the Canadian counterpoart of the FAA isn't quites as strict as USA is. WE all took a what the heck attitude and they showed me how to put the plane at full speed to make up time and to listen to all the airtraffice control chatter. It was fascinating. Alas we landed in Boston and I was met at the gate by a representative of the Airline telling me to keep my mouth shut and never let Air CAnada know what had happened and let thim think I did indeed work for Delta. WHatever you want Dude I have another plane to catch. I told him he could throw me in jail but he could never take the thrill of that airplane ride away from me. It was ome amazing day!
