What the hell is my baby's food?

Updated on March 10, 2015

A to Z

Are you a young mom or dad? Do you plan to feed your baby with commercial baby food or homemade food? Do you want to know how to read baby food ingredients? Do you understand labels? Can you read them? I could not. That's why I have created this Hubpage. I need to know what the hell is in my baby's food? Please feel free to add your info and comments!

MaltodextrinMaltodextrin is a food additive. Easy digestable and it is produced from starch. Maltodextrin can be enzymatically derived from any starch. In the US, this starch is usually corn; in Europe, it is commonly wheat. While wheat-derived maltodextrin may cause concern for celiacs that it may contain gluten, maltodextrin is such a highly processed ingredient that the protein is removed, rendering it gluten free. If wheat is used to make maltodextrin, it will appear on the label. Even so, the maltodextrin will be gluten free.

It's too complicated - I'm lost...

I made my babies food from scratch. They are now age 43 and 35. My youngest granddaughter is 1 and she gets ONLY breast milk and home-made organic foods. We take our little one's nutrition very seriously. Great lens - we are what we eat, and our kids are a cumulative of what they consume.
