Family Storytime At The Library
A Fun 1/2 An Hour
This is about something my local library does for families and children. They call it "Family Storytime", and it's a neat way for you to have fun with your 2-5 year old child for no cost. It's just long enough to keep the children entertained. I don't know if other libraries do this, but if they don't, they should.
What Is It?
What is Family Storytime you ask? It's a nice, fun time for both your 2-5 year old child and you. For a half an hour, you sit in a room with other parents and their children. They have a librarian read stories, and they even sing a song or two.
The best part, it's educational too. Each week, they have a different "letter of the day." Parents are encouraged to point it out to the children on the way home. Each week they feature stories from different parts of the world.
I've never experienced anything like it before, and if my neighbor hadn't mentioned it casually one day, I wouldn't have known about it. It also gave me and my son a chance to get a library card. If you're local library has a program like this, I encourage you to check it out.
