Fisher-Price Little People Batcave - Not Just For Boys
My husband and I don't really believe in gender defining play things, if it's a toy and it looks fun, we'll buy it (assuming we have the money and occasion to do so). Batman in general is a favorite of ours so we were very much attracted to the Fisher Price Batman sets.
We bought the Batcave when it was on sale and even then, I'll admit it seemed on the pricy side but it is really well made and we don't regret the purchase at all. Most importantly our daughter loves it!
Besides the main plastic "Batcave" the set also comes with a Batcar (it can't really be called a Batmobile) that says phrases in batman's voice when the seat is depressed. A Helicoptor, which doesn't speak but you can spin the blades, A Blue Batman figure and a Robin figure. It also has a detachable Batflag.
The Batcave its self features an opening garage door, a little desk area with a seat, a helipad and a ramp which has a switchy thing at the back that enables you to tip the Batcar down the ramp. It's especially great to use on a hard floor with no carpet because the car goes really far and has great knocking over other toys potential which is fantastic fun for toddlers.
The Batcave is really well (and adorably) designed. There are great details to it that probably children don't necessarily appreciate but I certainly do as an adult. Our curious little bundle of destruction loves to pick stickers off of her toys and she hasn't even figured out that the pictures on this toy are stickers yet which is also great.
We gave our daughter her Batcave about two months ago (when she was 15 months old) and she really enjoys playing with it with us as well as on her own. The helicopter of all things is actually her favorite part. She picks it up and toddles around making "whoosh whoosh" sounds and then she carefully puts it back in the helipad.
We bought this for our daughter's first birthday. It is much larger than the car that comes with the Batcave (comparison photos below) but it's just oozing with style! It comes with a black suited batman and says phrases when the seat is depressed.
Funny story... we gave her the Batcave as a random surprise. It was waiting for her in the livingroom when she came downstairs in the morning. she thought it was great until she heard the voice that came out of the little Batcar and then she cried hysterically because the actual voice is different from the big Batmobile. They say similar things but it is a different Batman voice recording. She was happy again once we pointed out that the beloved Batmobile was still there.
This is the set where you can get the Joker, Batgirl and a few other DC characters. You will end up with a double black Batman as well as a double Robin if you already have the other sets however, you can put them away in the event that the originals are misplaced or take the awesome opportunity to draw goatees on them with a fine tipped sharpie so that there is a good Batman/Robin and an EVIL Batman/Robin!
Grandma actually bought it for her first birthday in May but customs have sent it back to her 3 times (trying to send it to the UK) so she's giving it to her for Christmas instead.
The photos below are of our daughter playing with her Batcave and Batmobile. The blue Batman who came with the Batcave play set was unfortunately unable to be photographed as he was away on a secret mission. (quite possibly under the sofa)
