Child Friendly Fun Stuff to Do and See
Whether you live in CNY (Central New York) or just thinking of planning a visit to the Syracuse area; this lens is dedicated to spotlighting kid friendly places. Kids have venues and places to they like to go and meet other kids. Some places can be mentally and visually enriching, and some are just for kids just to be kids, and have fun. I created a list of some places for children to go play, see, and even learn in CNY. These are some places that as a parent I discovered, and wanted to share them with you. Indoor Playground and more
Winner of the Family Times best place for a party in 2011 and 2013; one of my family's personal favorite place to play. Located in Phoenix, NY it has a six thousand square foot area filled with fun. The area is filled with playground equipment, imagination areas( a bank, cafe, post office, restaurant,etc), and a pirate ship. The background walls are simply beautiful, as they are painted with different scenes, such as children playing. Books and toys for the kids to play with, and costumes for them to play pretend. Suited for children 8yrs and under. Pay only $8, and play all day. Or pay $10 to get a meal and play all day. For the adults there is free coffee and wifi. Memberships are available upon request. Sometimes if you check other deal sites you can find deal packages and other promotions from sites like Livingsocial, Groupon, and Sweetjack. They also have special events such as holiday parties, which sometimes feature "Bob the Bear", magicians, musicians, and more. They are available for parties too. Bounce houses seem to be all the rage with children under 10 these days, and here is a list of the popular ones in the Syracuse area.

There are so many museums in the CNY area, but I will list a few that I think are the most kid friendly.
MoST (Museum of Science and Technology) - Located in downtown Syracuse, NY (Armory Square). Kids can learn about science hands on, and have fun while doing it. They have exhibits about life sciences, a planetarium, telecommunications, and more. Besides the many exhibits they also feature an IMAX theatre, which is an experience in itself. Everson Museum of Art - Also located in downtown Syracuse, NY. Features a number of changing exhibits of art, and has a collection that features such artists as Warhol, Basquiat, and Pollock to name a few. There are also sculptures inside and outside. Animals and Nature
let's take a hike!
Kids love animals. CNY has a few places for kids to experience nature, which I will mention below.
Rosamond Gifford Zoo - Located in Syracuse, NY. They have over seven hundred animals ranging in size from insects to as large as Asian elephants. They also feature an outside play area for their primates, a walk through room with a variety of jungle birds, a penguin area, lions, and Siberian tigers to name a few. Beaver Lake Nature Center - Located in Baldwinsville, NY. Admission to the park is only $3 per car. Eight different trails for children and family to explore nature. Who knows maybe you will even see the local wildlife? Once you are done walking the trails you cam either kayak the lake or check out the Nature center. Inside you will see examples of the local wildlife that can be found near the lake, and a room just for kids that has games, and toys that are nature centered. The Wild - Located in Chittenango, NY. It is a seasonal park, and features such animals as bobcats, North American alligators, Bengal Tigers, Red Kangaroo, and many more. There are at least twenty four different types of animals. They also have bounce houses, live animal shows, and a concession stands. They do feature events during certain times of the year.
