Girl Scout Songs

Updated on May 20, 2012

Girl Scout Songs

I was a Girl Scout oh so long ago. My daughter is a Girl Scout now. When I went to help with a meeting, it was amazing how many songs I began to remember from my childhood camping trips...and how many NEW songs there are out there. This lens touches on just some of the HUNDREDS of camp/girl scout songs..both new and old. Add more to the Guest Book if you remember some!!!

Tony Chestnut

Tony Chestnut

Knows I love you,

Tony knows, Tony knows,

Tony Chestnut

Knows I love you,

That's what Tony knows.

While singing, point to

different parts of your body, like this:

Toe knee chest nut (head)

Nose eye

Love (heart)

You (point to others)

Toe knee nose

Toe knee nose

Toe knee chest nut (head)

Nose eye

Love (heart)

You (point to others)

That's what toe knee nose.

Bug Juice

(Tune- On Top Of Old Smokey)

At camp with the Girl Scouts

They gave us a drink

We thought it was Kool-Aid

Because it was pink

But the thing that they told us

Would have grossed out a moose

That great tasting pink drink

Was really bug juice

It looks fresh and fruity

Like tasty Kool-Aid

But the bug that are in it

Were murdered with raid

We drank it by gallons

We drank it by tons

But then the next morning

We all had the runs

Next time you drink bug juice

And a fly drives you mad

He's just getting even

'Cause you swallowed his dad

Make New Friends

MAKE NEW FRIENDS

Make new friends,

but keep the old.

One is silver,

the other is gold.

A circle is round,

it has no end.

That's how long,

I will be your friend.

A fire burns bright,

it warms the heart.

We've been friends,

from the very start.

You have one hand,

I have the other.

Put them together,

We have each other.

Pink Pajamas

Using the Battle Hymn Republic tune

I wear my pink pajamas in the summer when it's hot

I wear my flannel nightie in the winter when it's not

And sometimes in the springtime and sometimes in the fall

I jump into my bed with nothing on at all

That's the time when you should see me

That's the time when you should see me

That's the time when you should see me

When I jump into my bed with nothing on at all

Nosy, nosy what's it to ya?

Nosy, nosy what's it to ya?

Nosy, nosy what's it to ya?

When I jump into my bed with nothing on at all.

Mrs. O'Leary

Late last night, when we were all in bed (rest head on folded hands)

Mrs. O'Leary hung(make lantern-hanging motion)

a lantern in the shed

And when the cow kicked (kick) it over

She winked(wink) her eye and said:

It's gonna be a hot(fan self with hand) time, in the Old Town, To-night!

Fire, Fire, Fire

Sing song over and over, each time taking away the next word in the song that has an action and ONLY doing the action for that word and NOT singing it.

The Littlest Worm

Each line is sung by the Leader and repeated by the group. Then the whole verse is sung again together.

The littlest worm

I ever saw

Was stuck inside

My soda straw!

He said to me

Don't take a sip

For if you do

I'll surely flip!

I took a sip

And he went down

Right through my pipes

He must have drowned!

Now don't you fret,

Now don't you fear,

That little worm

Had scuba gear.

He swam right up

And out my mouth

The last I heard

He's headed south

He was my pal

He was my friend

But now he's gone

And that's the end!

Do Your Ears Hang Low?

Do your ears hang low?

Do they wobble to and fro?

Can you tie them in a knot?

Can you tie them in a bow?

Can you throw them o’er your shoulder,

Like a continental soldier?

Do your ears hang low?

Do your eyeballs droop?

Do they wobble in your soup?

Can you tie them in a knot?

Can you tie them in a loop?

Can you throw them o’er your shoulder,

Like a continental soldier?

Do your eyeballs droop?

Does your nose hang down?

Does it drag upon the ground?

Can you tie it in a knot?

Can you tie it in a crown?

Can you throw them o’er your shoulder,

Like a continental soldier?

Does your nose hang down?

Do your ears hang high?

Do they reach up to the sky?

Do they droop when they’re wet??

Do they stiffen when they’re dry?

Can you semaphore your neighbor,

With a minimum of labor?

Do your ears hang high?

Do your ears hang wide?

Can you soar and can you glide?

Can you hike the Grand Canyon?

While you’re touching both sides?

Do they get nice and soar,

When you’re walking through the door?

Do your ears hang wide?

Do your ears hang askew?

Can you use one stirring stew,

while the other’s picking berries,

or making mountain dew?

Can you hold an elevator,

while you signal to a waiter?

Do your ears hang askew?

Song That Never Ends

Made famous by "LambChop"

This is the song that never ends.

Yes, it goes on and on, my friend.

Some people

Started singing it

Not knowing what it was,

And they'll continue singing it forever, just because...

Wienie Song

We still sing this and laugh!!

I know a Wienie Man.

He owns a wienie stand.

He sells me everything

From hotdogs on down.

One day I'll share his life.

I'll be his wienie wife.

Hotdog, I love that wienie man!

Hotdog!

Hermie the Worm

There are some great SWAPS that go with this song.

Chorus

sittin' on my front porch

chewin' my bubble gum

(smack-smack-smack-smack)

playin' with my yo-yo

(woo-woo)

Then along came Hermie The Worm

and he was this big. (show with hands)

And I said

"Hermie, what happened?"

He said" I ate a mouse".

Sing chorus

Then along came Hermie the Worm

and he was this big.

And I said

"Hermie, what happened"

He said "I ate a cat"

Sing chorus

Then along came Hermie the Worm

and he was this big.

And I said

"Hermie, what happened"

He said "I ate a dog"

Sing chorus

Then along came Hermie the Worm

and he was this big.

And I said

"Hermie, what happened"

He said, "I ate a cow"

Sing chorus

Then along came Hermie the Worm

and he was this big. (small hands)

And I said

"Hermie,what happened"

He said "I burped"!

I like "I want to linger a little longer..." It brings back memories of campfires and friendship through the years. This is a great lens! I like it. Thanks for posting it.
