Graco Highback Turbo Booster - The Review
This Is What the Customers Are Saying
Graco Highback TurboBooster is top-rated high-back booster seat and one of the best car seat options after your child has outgrown from 5 point harness. What has delighted many customers is that it is also one of the least expensive booster seats on the market.
Tests show that Graco Turbo Booster is one of the few booster seats that fits well in most of the cars. The seat is light, easy to put together, easy to install and buckle (see the video below for more info about the installation). It is also very easy to move between vehicles. Highback Turbobooster actually has most of the features you only find on expensive booster seats. It has a reclining backrest, padded, height-adjustable head support, height-adjustable armrests and dual hide-away cup holders. Another big plus of this seat is that the soft and comfortable seat cover is machine washable.
Integrated seat belt guide keeps the seat belt correctly positioned. And when your kid grows up, you can remove the backrest and turn the seat into a backless booster seat. Please keep in mind though that highback boosters protect children better in side crashes.
While some of the parents wouldn't use a booster seat on long road trips, majority of the parents say that this Graco car seat seems very comfortable and roomy for their children. Kids are excited when they can finally buckle and unbuckle the belt themselves like "big kids". They also love the fact that now they sit up high enough to get a good view out of the window. The hide-away cup holders come in handy to hold drinks, snacks, and tiny treasures.
One of the small drawbacks of highback Turbobooster is the fact that the armrests don't flip up and down. This is a feature that many of the other (more expensive) booster seats have. Thus you basically have to choose to leave the armrests on or off during assembly of the seat, as they are not easily removed and replaced.
You should also be aware that the backrest section doesn't "lock" to seat section. So the two components may disconnect if you try to carry the seat from just the backrest (or the seat section). And if the back portion comes off it can be a pain to re-install at least until you get the hang of it. Familiarizing yourself with the instructions before assembling and installing the seat naturally helps to overcome this problem.
As mentioned, some customers think that the padding of the seat is not thick enough for every day use, and that the seat works best on occasional use only. And the fact is that over time the padding on the seat will compress. What you should understand however is that padding on this seat is not less than what an average car seat padding or cushioning offers, or even more, and most children feel comfortable sitting in it. And nothing stops you from adding a thin layer of foam or padding under the cover if needed.
