The Answer is 42 . . .

Updated on July 4, 2015

Children always ask for help with their homework. That's part of our job as parents. The problem happens when our "help" is drastically different than the "help" our children are really asking for. We look at the problems, ask questions, come at it from every angle we can think of (except for standing on our head) but still our children lament and whine that that isn't the help they need. What do they really want? . . . The answers.

So when they want an answer – I give them one – 42. But for some reason that doesn’t satisfy them. They seem to want the answer to the question they are working on. Go figure!

I came up with the answer after watching part of the movie - Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe. They were looking for the question that came with the answer - 42. I think it works well for any situation - well almost! At least it lets them know that I will help them, but I will not give them all the answers!

Actually if you think about it - sooner or later the answer will be 42. Just not for every question!

I'm so happy that I'm now the grandmother and can let go of the worry about raising the kids well and just enjoy them 100% of the time - plus I get the added bonus of experiencing my daughters as superb Moms. Love this lens.
