JJ Cole Diaper Caddy Review: The Best Portable Diaper Station
The JJ Cole Diaper Caddy is versatile, portable & compact.
In my opinion the JJ Cole Diaper Caddy is a 'must have' for every parent. Consider the following scenario:
Your baby is sleeping peacefully in the bassinet. Or maybe they are busy playing with their favourite toy. Or perhaps they are sitting in your lap looking sweet and angelic. Then you hear it.
The diaper explosion makes an unmistakable sound. You know the best brand of diaper and the most expert diapering job are no match for the diaper explosion. You pick your child up and run hoping to get to the change table before anything drips on the floor.
Wouldn't life be simpler if you had a portable change station nearby?
I am a proud owner of the JJ Cole Diaper Caddy. In this lens you'll find out about why I love it and why I've bought it for many of my expectant friends. I'll also show you a few ways you can still use the caddy when your baby is no longer in diapers.
Features of the JJ Cole Diaper Caddy
Can be customized to suit your needs.
The JJ Cole Diaper Caddy is a versatile accessory that can be tailored to your needs. The front shelf is large enough to accommodate a large wipes box. The drawer below is ideal for holding creams, lotions, nail clipper, nail files, nasal aspirator, thermometer, etc. All those little items that keep getting misplaced around your home can be collected in one spot. The deep shelf can hold ~8 diapers arranged widthwise as well as a lotion, or it can hold ~16 diapers arranged lengthwise.
Tip: I like to keep a replacement pack of wipes below the diapers so I am never caught short.
The change pad is large (28 x 17.5 inches, 71 x 45cm) which is ideal because babies grow so fast. One of the problems with portable change pads, such as the ones that come with most diaper bags, is that they are simply too small to accommodate a growing baby. You will never have that problem with this change pad. The change pad folds up, has a Velcro closure, and can be easily placed in the handy pocket on the back.
What I love about this unit is that everything can be done one-handed. With your baby in one arm you can pull out and unfold the mat. With one hand busy keeping your baby's feet out of the contents of the diaper you can easily grab a new diaper, open the wipes box, and access the diaper rash cream in the drawer.
How to use the JJ Cole Diaper Caddy
Great for both large homes and apartment use.
If your home is small and you just don't have room for a change table, then consider the diaper caddy one-stop shopping for all your diapering needs. The unit is compact and measures 12 x 8.5 x 11 inches (31 x 22 x 28cm). The change pad can either be left in a designated spot or put away after each use.
If you're in a larger home then you probably don't want to be trekking back to the nursery every time you need to change a diaper. Consider the JJ Cole Diaper Caddy a 'satellite diaper station'. Leave it in the room where you spend most of your time. The diaper caddy is also lightweight so you can carry it from room to room.
If you are co-sleeping then the diaper caddy makes a great addition to your bedroom. Keep the caddy on your nightstand or beside your bed for those frequent nighttime changes.
I don't have a large home but I do have two small levels. I have the main change area in my baby's bedroom and keep the JJ Cole Diaper Caddy in the living room. I can pull it out easily whenever I need it and tuck it away when done. It hardly takes up any space and it looks great.
Going on a road trip? Pop the JJ Cole Diaper Caddy into your car and you are good to go.

Some other accessories to compliment your JJ Cole Diaper Caddy
These storage boxes come in different sizes and are great for keeping your nursery tidy. Keep socks, hats and bibs in one, onesies and pants in another, and have another for stowing toys away. The laundry hamper also makes a great addition, especially if you want to wash baby clothing separately. Each of these units are available in coordinating colors with your JJ Cole diaper caddy.
Pros of the JJ Cole Diaper Caddy - All the reasons I love this caddy.

- Portable and lightweight. It's easy to carry from room to room.
- Attractive. With four great colours and a sleek design it will fit in with your décor.
- Compact. This caddy is great if you're short on space.
- Great for travel. Simply pop it into your car and off you go!
- Simple to use. Everything can be done with one hand.
- The large change pad accommodates a growing baby.
- Makes a great gift!
Cons of the JJ Cole Diaper Caddy - No product is perfect (although this does come close)
- There is one issue with the change pad. The plastic top layer is secured to the base of the pad with stitching. In the event of an 'accident' (as we all know can happen with babies) there is the potential for some liquid to seep through the stitching. I have experienced some minor leakage through to the middle layer but my carpet or bedspread have never gotten wet. If you attend to the leak right away then it shouldn't soak through the change pad.
In my opinion this minor flaw is offset by the large size of the change pad and how handy the entire unit is.
Some other uses for the JJ Cole Diaper Caddy.
Beyond the diaper years.
Can you use the diaper caddy after your baby is out of diapers? Absolutely! The following pictures show four ways I envision using the diaper caddy in the future.
My daughter has just been potty trained so currently I use my JJ Cole diaper caddy to hold wipes and extra clothing in case of accidents.
The JJ Cole Diaper Caddy easily becomes a place where you can tuck your child's toys away at night.
Art Supply Caddy
Whether used for your child or yourself, the JJ Cole Diaper Caddy makes a great storage unit for art supplies. Store paper, larger containers of paint and paintbrushes in the deep shelf. Crayons, water colors and play-doh can easily be stashed in the smaller shelf while stamps, stencils and small tubes of paint can be put away in the drawer.
Tidy up your rec room in style. The deep shelf will hold a stack of magazines while frequently watched DVDs can be placed in the smaller shelf. Stash your lip balm, hand cream and other nicknacks in the drawer.
Store your pasta or bags of freshly ground coffee in the deep shelf. Stash a selection of tea in the shallow shelf. Fill the drawer with herbs and spices.
