Kids Ride on Toy Features

(Back to the top)Riding toys are one of the best toys to keep your child busy for long periods of time.

Your child can zoom around having lots of fun, pretending to drive their own vehicle, while they develop balance and gross motor coordination.

  • Should be made of a sturdy plastic, metal or wood
  • Rust proof rubber tires are long-lasting and operate quietly
  • While most run by using Flintstones-like leg power (aka kid power), some run on electrical power (battery). The electrial powered ride on toys can usually move not more than 5 mph when moving forward , and not more than 2.5 when moving backwards.

Choosing a Kids Riding Toy

Typically each style of the kids' ride on toys can either be traditional or more modern.

Quite often the more modern ones are based on popular characters in the media, current car models, etc and may be battery operated. Also among the more recent innovations are riding toys that make use of advances in science and engineering to harness the natural forces of inertia, centrifugal force, gravity, and friction to make the best use of kid power. And of course there we always have the classical favorites, be they in the shape of a car tricycle, airplane, truck, tractor, etcConsider the following:
It should be made of a durable material that does not break or crack easily

The tyres should be solid and wide enough to take the weight of both the toy and the rider

Make sure the ridding toy is well balanced and does not tip over easily

The toy should be appropriate for the child's age

Can the child balance themselves, or will the child need someone to push the child around? If so, you need to make sure there is an easy way push the child around

Once you see how much a child enjoys a ride on toy, you will want to get one for all the significant children in your life.

Best Toddler Ride-on Toys

When my kids were younger, we always had a few ride on toys around. Usually a more basic one for each child, and sometimes a more "fancy" one as the kids got older, and had more of an opinion of what they preferred. Having a few was great when a young friend or cousin came visiting and all the kids could play together without too many fights.
