Looking for a Wonderful Baby Gift?

When our children were babies, I don't think I could have survived as a young mother without my baby swing. It was a very simple, wind-up swing and played only one, mechanical sounding tune, often over-powered by the click-clack, click-clack repetitive sound of the winding device.

None of that mattered. Having a swing in the kitchen, where my baby could sit and watch me while being gently soothed by the rocking motion, gave me the freedom to prepare meals and wash dishes, while keeping my baby nearby. That swing lasted through four children and was passed on to a friend when my last child became too old for it.

Today, my youngest daughter is now on the verge of becoming a mother herself. I wanted her to have the same peace-of-mind that my baby swing gave me, and I am amazed by the improvements that have been made over the years. After checking out a variety of choices, I have decided to purchase her the MamaRoo. I can't believe everything it can do. No repetitive click-clack sound today!

The MamaRoo can mimic the motion of a car ride, a kangaroo, a tree swing, rocking motion, or ocean waves. You can also choose from five different speeds and five different sounds of nature. Or you can hook up your MP3 player and play your favorite children's songs or lullabies. It even comes with plush balls that are artistically decorated in the styles of Van Gogh, Monet and Seurat.

This swing sounds like so much fun, I wish it came in adult sizes. Wouldn't it be fun to be gently rocked to sleep for an afternoon nap, while listening to ocean sounds or your favorite music?

I can't wait to see my future grandson in his new swing!

We Bought This Swing for Our Daughter

Our daughter was thrilled with this baby swing. When her first child was born, it gave her a place to safely lay him and lull him to sleep during nap time. He also sat in it in the evening. Baby swings have improved so much since I was a young mother!

Baby Swings are Very Helpful Gifts

There are actually a wide variety of baby swings available, in addition to the one mentioned here. They can be purchased in a wide range of prices, from about $50 to nearly $200.

Whatever type of swing you choose, keep your goal in mind. You want a swing which will quietly and safely sooth a baby.

It is also important to remember that the baby will only enjoy a swing in the months prior to turning one year old. Once they can walk, a swing becomes less useful. As a result, it is important to remember that they are handy to have for your infant, but they will soon be set aside.

You're so right - they are a life saver, though my baby will never go to sleep in his swing, he gets too excited and just kicks his legs and waves his arms! It's very cute
